4.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good...
I've had the fan installed for about a month, and it works as it should. I called a Hunter CSR before purchasing to inquire about the fan, and I was told the only common problem is a component that can burn up from turning the power on & off with a wall switch; in other words, use the remote only, keep constant power to the fan.

2.0 out of 5 stars great look, quality unlike a Hunter
I have never had to balance a Hunter ceiling fan until I bought this one, the first out of over twenty purchased. The flourescent light is extremely dim at its brightest setting, a little brighter than a night light, definitely not suitable for reading. If this was my first experience with a Hunter brand product, I would try another manufacturer. The design is a...

I've had the fan installed for about a month, and it works as it should. I called a Hunter CSR before purchasing to inquire about the fan, and I was told the only common problem is a component that can burn up from turning the power on & off with a wall switch; in other words, use the remote only, keep constant power to the fan.

Positives: Very quiet, looks great, performs perfectly, ease of use with remote, easy to install.

Negatives: No manual controls (remote is the only way to control the fan), light is too dim.

For the price, it seems to be an excellent buy.

Ultra modern, nice and quiet. And, fast! I use reverse setting for cold weather. I like the fact that there is no pull chain! The light is dim, and it's florescent, so better use a back-up light for reading.

This fan looks great on high ceilings, does not need an extension.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like the remote, April 19, 2006
This review is from: Hunter 23534 Oceanus 60-Inch Graphite Finish Remote Control Ceiling Fan (Kitchen)
I purchased three of these fans, two from Amazon and one from a hardware store. The two from Amazon must have been a later version because the other one required trimming the tabs on the fan blades to get them to fit correctly. I agree with other reviewers in that the light is too dim, hardly usable at all. The fans, while heavy and should probably require two people to help install them, are extremely quiet. I like the remote, however, the remote cradle does not fit well over rocker switches, regardless of what the instructions say.

1.0 out of 5 stars Remote receiver failed after only 3 years...and they don't make them anymore!!!, April 2, 2009
This review is from: Hunter 23534 Oceanus 60-Inch Graphite Finish Remote Control Ceiling Fan (Kitchen)
I bought this fan in 09/05 and had to order a 6' downrod as this was installed on an 18 foot ceiling. Had custom Graphite paint made at S-W to match the metal on the fan as the downrod comes in Black. The fan was AWESOME for 3 years...very powerful...LOW speed is fine for most days until it gets to 90 degrees, then you go to Medium. If you dare put it on HIGH, you better nail down items on tables and all papers as this fan really moves the air. Now to my problem...about 2 weeks ago the fan turned on by itself. I hit all the buttons on the remote and none worked. It just turned at either MED or HIGH, needless to say it got chilly very quick. So I turned off the fan at the wall switch. I switched batteries and the remote still didn't work. I have a battery tester and tested both the old and new batteries and they were fine. So then I called Hunter. I explained to the CSR what happened and she said very confidently it's the Remote Receiver up in the fan. She made it seem like this is a common occurence. So common, to my dismay, that this part is no longer available!!! They are out of them!!! They are not going to make anymore!!! So my fan is USELESS. My fan is 12 feet up in the air so I can't just hop on a stepladder and replace it. I am very disappointed in Hunter as I thought I was buying a better than average fan. Now, I'm supposed to find the 4 number date code on TOP of the fan and call Hunter to tell them that number for warranty purposes, however I have no idea what will be warranted yet. I'm definitely going to try and have Hunter pay for some installation costs as well. NOTE: Luckily the installer took the stickers off on top of the fan and I applied them to the Owner's Manual...remember to do that if your fan is going to be installed on a very high ceiling. I will be calling Hunter tomorrow. Oh yeah, and I'm supposed to find a replacement fan...now shouldn't they have all the 60" fans at their fingertips to email me? Why do I have to try and locate a comparable fan when they haven't even told me what will be warranted yet? Don't buy this fan cause if something fails, it looks like they don't have parts for it.

This fan is big, quiet and well balanced. People seem to dig its minimalist appearance, sort of like an airplane propeller. It was hard to believe I got free shipping, the box weighed a ton.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very quiet fan, November 21, 2006

A little funky looking, don't expect a classic appearance. Blades are obviously plastic. But I think it looks quite nice anyway, and even at high speed you really never hear the motor, just the woosh of the blades. As mentioned elsewhere, there is no way to operate the fan without the remote.

The light is a lot less bright than your typical three light incandescent fan light. It will also use a lot less energy, so there you go.

I wanted a very quiet fan for the bedroom, and this one fills the bill very nicely. The remote is nice, just don't know what will happen if it dies. I'm very happy with my purchase, but it is a unique fan, so keep that in mind.

If this was my first experience with a Hunter brand product, I would try another manufacturer. The design is a compliment to the room decor, the only reason I am keeping it. If you do not like the look, avoid this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased, November 3, 2006

I purchased this Hunter 60-inch ceiling fan from Amazon.com to replace an existing one (an AVION fan bought from COSTCO) that did not work well (which I later returned). Thanks to Amazon for the fast and free delivery. This fan is installed in a large size (20' X 20') room where I need plentry of peripheral coverage. I read the earlier reviewers' comments and I ordered it. I am very pleased with the product and they were right-on-the money. Yes, the fan works well, but I have some complaints about the erratic remote and the dim light. Overall, I am pleased with the product for the money that I paid.
