5.0 out of 5 stars Hunter Model 23688 Royal Oak Ceiling Fan
I just installed 2 Hunter 23688 Royal Oak 60-inch New Bronze fans in my living and family room which both are 2-story (15') ceilings. I used a 48" downrod on both and each runs very quiet without any vibration. The remotes can be set at different frequencies so you will not have a problem with both fans being controlled by one remote. The down draft is very good and I...

1.0 out of 5 stars 2 out of 3 fans are noisey!
I have 5 hunter fans in my house, some of them over 15 years old and I have always been happy with how well they worked and how quiet they are. I ordered 2 of these Royal Oak 60 inch fans to be used in the addition we just completed to my house. The first fan works fine. The second fan has a high pitched noise that comes from the motor housing. Hunter sent me a free...

5.0 out of 5 stars Hunter Model 23688 Royal Oak Ceiling Fan, June 4, 2009

This review is from: Hunter 23688 Royal Oak 60-Inch Ceiling Fan with 5 Dark-Cherry/Medium-Oak Blades and Remote Control, New-Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement)
The down draft is very good and I have yet to use the high setting since the mid-range is enough. I have Hunter fans in all of the bedrooms (4) and I am very satisfied with the product and would gladly recommend them. Also, the price on Amazon was about $80 cheaper than the price at my local electrical store.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fan and supper quite!, June 26, 2008
This review is from: Hunter 23688 Royal Oak 60-Inch Ceiling Fan with 5 Dark-Cherry/Medium-Oak Blades and Remote Control, New-Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement)
The Royal Oak 60 inch fan is so quite you will hardly note that it is running. Unilke my previous fans where you hear a rhythm of off and on, you hear nothing from the motor with the Royal Oak. Only on the high setting you will hear the fan blades. I used a 60 inch down rod and their is no vibration. The installer was amazed at the fans balance. The fan moves a high volume of air.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hunter 60" Royal Oak with remote, May 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hunter 23688 Royal Oak 60-Inch Ceiling Fan with 5 Dark-Cherry/Medium-Oak Blades and Remote Control, New-Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this fan a little while ago. I waited to do the review to get some use out of the item first. I have several fans in my house of different types. Some Casablanca's and some Hunter's. This fan was installed in my Living room 21' x 17' with 9' ceilings. I was looking for a large fan since this room was converted to a family office and now has 5 computers set up with a bunch of associated electronics. All of that equipment gives off a lot of extra heat and I wanted to get a fan to move the air around to supplement the AC. I have another Hunter 60" fan in my den (same room size) except that fan got bad reviews due to remote problems. I have not seen any of those problems with my unit but then again I do not have a light kit on that fan or this one.
Install of the fan went smoothly which was not a surprise sine I have installed 75+ fans to date. It looks like Hunter changed the canopy design on this model a bit. I think it an improvement but it was a little challenging to get the canopy to lock in at first. Once installed the fan works very nicely. The remote is the same as my other fan so I changed the code and there is no issue of interference. The fan makes a little noise like almost all Hunter fans when running. This is always a contention with me since most of the fans I have installed have been in bedrooms. Since this is in an office with computers and such you cannot really distinguish the fan noise from a computer fan or fan in a printer so this is not an issue. If you are looking for a fan that is completely silent this is not going to work for you. Now that being said I had to climb up a ladder and get right next to the base of the fan to hear the noise. Now it wasn't the dead of night in the house when you could hear a pin drop too. I have a Casablanca Holiston fan (60") also and it makes s about the same level of noise as this one. I paid a lot more for that one too. That one is installed in my bedroom and I don't have a problem with that level of noise.
The remote is easy to use and I like the form factor. The low speed of the fan seems to be a little too low for me and the high speed seems a bit high. I use the Medium setting and it works out great. It moves a good amount of air and the air noise is not that noticeable. I would recommend this unit to anyone it seems to be well made and operates well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fan, January 26, 2009
This review is from: Hunter 23688 Royal Oak 60-Inch Ceiling Fan with 5 Dark-Cherry/Medium-Oak Blades and Remote Control, New-Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement)
Really nice looking fan that works great. Absolutely quiet and remote control works great. Perfect for a large room. Really moves some air on the high setting. I installed it on a high vaulted ceiling with a 24" down rod. Looks really sharp. I would recommend this fan.

This fan is very quiet. It has been doing a great job cooling off our very large family room.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool!, May 24, 2010

Simple product that does the job well: powerful motor, wide blades diameter and severe blade pitch add up to lots of air movement. Quiet aside from sound of air moving. Has remote switch - small concern there: If you are switching fan from the traditional pull-chains, the remote is so much better. However, if you are replacing a wall control switch, the designers at Hunter missed a clever opportunity: the remote holder could be designed to attach to the wall place or junction box. The remote would be kept on the wall until you snapped it out and carried it to where you need it. Remote is ugly, a light beige plastic - give me a faux wood that matches the fan. No trouble with installing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality Fan, August 7, 2009
This review is from: Hunter 23688 Royal Oak 60-Inch Ceiling Fan with 5 Dark-Cherry/Medium-Oak Blades and Remote Control, New-Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement)
Purchased two of these fans for two large rooms. They look good and move the air very efficiently, especially at low speeds. They are very quiet. So far, the remote controllers work well, but the fans cannot be reversed using the controllers.

I ordered 2 of these Royal Oak 60 inch fans to be used in the addition we just completed to my house. The first fan works fine. The second fan has a high pitched noise that comes from the motor housing. Hunter sent me a free replacement. I just installed it and it also has the same noise. The quality of Hunter fans has apparently gone down a lot from what it used to be. I will call them again and see what I can do now that I have 2 defective fans.

This is a really nice basic fan which moves a lot of air and does it quietly. One of the easier installs as there are no rubber gaskets to put in the fan blades which is a pain. The wireless receiver is round and snaps into the ceiling mount. Just a great fan with no negatives.
