This is a great looking, quality fan that has a contemporary style without being over the top. With a 3 blade design and compact motor housing, it looks a bit anorexic compared to more traditional fans, but this is not a complaint. Even though it is a large diameter sweep, it does not look overwhelming. The graphite side of the blades is dark and matte (like a chalkboard), while the brushed nickel finishes look much better and brighter in person than in any photo I have seen online- including the dismal picture on this product page.
This particular ASIN (B00083UKUO) includes the light kit. Many other retailers sell it without the kit for about the same price. I'm impressed by the non-fussy appearance, and there is something about the shade of the frosting on the glass globe that compliments the overall contemporary look. There is an option to install the kit without the globe, however this makes the halogen lights very direct and harsh (though it looks cool). The included remote control, other than being larger than necessary and cheap feel, is full function. You can turn the fan on/off, change speed/direction, and dim the lights. It comes with a 7" downrod, which will be too short if your ceilings are >9'. [UPDATE] I said in the review that the light kit is included. It was when I made my purchase, which came from the Amazon *Featured Merchant* Delmar Designs (who delivered quickly in excellent condition). I now see a photo of the remote appears on the product page. This is not the remote that came with my unit and looks better (hopefully!). Also, the instructions really do suck.

Great Transitional Design at a Wallet Friendly Price,

Purchased this and a light kit (from another retailer) to replace a 10 year old builder's grade ceiling wart.
Of course, aesthetically, the fan is excellent. It's a great "transitional" design that's not quite modern and definitely not traditional. It's a very nice, clean design that would fit well with most decor. The blades are reversible to be either a charcoal black/gray or the light beech/pine color depicted here (don't be confused by the image on the box as it shows it as black). You can see a picture of it in a nice model home at the Donald A. Gardner website photo gallery (find the "Laurelwood" House Plan Master Bedroom). Functionally, the fan is excellent. In operation, the fan is smooth, wobble-free, quiet, and POWERFUL. Compared to the previous fan that we had, we can definitely feel a big difference in terms of the airflow (at an equivalent fan speed). Here's hoping that it helps cut down summer cooling bills. That said, it's not perfect. I docked it one star for the following: - Instructions are seriously lacking. I wonder if the engineers actually performed usability testing on the directions since I really don't think they did. The pictures were not detailed enough and the instructions didn't specify which screws to use. In the age of Ikea, I can't imagine how so many manufacturers continue to get basic instruction design wrong. - Had to run out to Home Depot to pick up another wood screw after the included screws stripped clean, even after pre-drilling the pilot hole as instructed. For once, I'd like a manufacturer to include a screw that doesn't feel like it's made of butter. - The mounting plate design isn't optimal. The instructions want you to screw the mounting plate into the wood support structure. Just be aware of this if you are doing a remodel install using a braced metal ceiling box that it may be much harder if there isn't an existing fan there. You may end up cutting out a larger portion of your drywall! - Light kit is remote operated *ONLY*. This would suck if you lost the remote. Also, the remote takes a funky battery for no other reason than taking a funky battery. Why not just use a standard AAA? Who knows. As a side note, if you currently have a fan which has a separate switch for the light and the fan (as we did), you'll have a three-way wire coming into the existing fan. We ended up capping and taping the red wire and only connected the black wire. At the end of the day? Still worth the price and effort. Looks great with our decor, moves a nice amount of air, and _relatively_ easy to install (compared to fans I've installed in the past).

We've only had the fan up for less than a day, but so far we're thrilled. GREAT design. It's simple, visually light, and a mix of industrial and contemporary.
The room it's in is roughly 16' x 16' with a 13' ceiling. According to recommendations, the fan is technically too big for the room, but we think it looks and works perfect. On the Low setting, there's a very slight, comfortable, cooling breeze. On High, there's a breeze strong enough to blow around a piece of paper in my hands, but it's not so strong that I feel like I'm being blown away. (The blade pitch is 15 degrees.) We were stumped on what length of down rod to get. Various places online recommended 36 inches for our ceiling height while a Hunter customer rep recommended 48 inches. We ended up going with 24 inches, and we are SO glad we did. In our opinion, it's the perfect distance from the floor. As far as installation directions go, we hired a professional electrician to install it, and he had no problem. One thing to note is that the instructions state that the fan needs to be installed into the building structure, but our electrician said that an appropriately rated ceiling fan box and brace is fully adequate for supporting the fan. One con is that the fan can't be hardwired to a wall switch; you have to use the remote. All in all, we're very happy with this fan.

Purchased fan six months ago. The light was included free of charge, which made the fan a great deal. The fan is very quiet and the lighting system is very elegant. The instructions were general and not designed for this particular fan. The install was slightly more advanced, especially due to the poor instructions. The blades are quality wood and the motor is compact. Nothing cheap about this product except the instructions.

Lovely Item...Misleading Product Specifications,

Love the fixture, elegant and different than your average ceiling fan/overhead light. However the product specifications listed on Amazon are misleading and Amazon choose to not take responsiblity for the mistake. Specifications state "Number of Lights: 1", a light is NOT included. Once brought to Amazon's attention they said I was to contact Hunter (manufacturer) and inquire about the product specifications. Wait a minute, didn't I purchase the product from Amazon, isn't Amazon responsible for the mistake? I guess not!

Excellent fan,

I have 3 of these fans installed in an urban condo and could not be happier. It has a sleek, minimalist design that looks great and works even better. The fan makes absolutely no noise at the second speed and moves the air very efficiently. The online pictures do not do justice for the fan as the fit and finish on the fan was excellent

One thing that i really didn't like about this fan was the fact that you could not hard wire it with a different switch kit. I have a lutron system in my apt that i wanted to incorporate( because the remote that comes with the fan is hideous). Tech support was no help since they claim its impossible to wire it differently.
