4.0 out of 5 stars Wake up and smell the clean air...
I love this filter! After one week I was shocked at how much dirt it cleaned up from our air. You do have to replace the filters but it is totally worth it.

If it is in the room with you and you are trying to talk or watch tv it is very NICE to be able to turn it down, to hear better without having to turn it off. Don't get me wrong, even the high setting is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Purifier - Expensive to Replace Filters
I'm so torn on this product. It really is a great air purifier, and it has comes with various settings so you can adjust it to your room and liking. It is fairly quiet compared to some other smaller air purifiers I've used, but it certainly isn't whisper quiet (which, to be fair, they don't claim it to be).

The reason I'm torn is the price of the replacement...

If it is in the room with you and you are trying to talk or watch tv it is very NICE to be able to turn it down, to hear better without having to turn it off. Don't get me wrong, even the high setting is NOT that noisey. I highly recommend this air cleaner for the price and for the quality.

3.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Purifier - Expensive to Replace Filters, November 8, 2010

I'm so torn on this product. It really is a great air purifier, and it has comes with various settings so you can adjust it to your room and liking. It is fairly quiet compared to some other smaller air purifiers I've used, but it certainly isn't whisper quiet (which, to be fair, they don't claim it to be).

The reason I'm torn is the price of the replacement air filters. I purchased this last year (2009) for my dad to use in his bedroom. He was a heavy smoker, and when winter was approaching, it was too cold to go outside. He passed earlier this year (2010), and my mom got out the air purifier to use in another part of the house. We could tell that it needed the filters replaced.

Unfortunately, the two replacement filters cost as much if not a little more than the unit itself. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE! I did some searching online, and I was able to find some filters that were less expensive, but when you added shipping, the price was still only $10-15 less than a new unit. She really wanted an air purifier so she just went ahead and bought a whole new unit instead of the replacement filters (since it was cheaper). That just doesn't make sense.

PROS: Great air purifier with adjustable settings at a low price

CONS: Replacement filters are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.

The Hunter 300090 appears to have decent build quality. Fan is not as quiet as I was hoping for, but should not be too loud in most situations and does move a lot of air. Filter is easy to replace. Unit is nice that you can mount on the wall, lay on its side, or stand upright.

The Hunter line of hepa air filters are great. Just make sure you buy the right one that fits the size of the room you want to use it in. Its quiet, and works great. You have to vacuum out the pre filter once a month, and the hepa filter lasts about a year.

4.0 out of 5 stars I would definitely recommend, May 27, 2009
This review is from: Hunter 30090 11-Feet by 13-Feet True Hepa Room Air Purifier for Small Rooms (Kitchen)
I have had this particular air purifier for a year and a half now and have loved it! I would have given it 5 stars but the replacement filters are a bit pricey.

I have this in the room with my guinea pigs and computer and all my paper files so there is a lot of dust and dander in addition to hay that the guinea pigs eat. The room is slightly larger than recommended but it has not been a problem. The odor control is great and this is the least dusty room in the house since we bought it. It has been run non-stop for the year and a half we have had it except to change filters. On very rare occasions it will seem loud. I usually vacuum the front grill and shake it out (hay tends to fall in) and this resolves the loudness.

I am getting ready to purchase one for each of our 3 bedrooms. I would just check the filter replacement costs first and decide if you want to spend that much. Otherwise, this is a great air purifier for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Air You Breathe, August 9, 2010

This review is from: Hunter 30090 11-Feet by 13-Feet True Hepa Room Air Purifier for Small Rooms (Kitchen)
The vascular surgeon I work for placed this model's bigger cousin in the surgical procedure room in our office. Loved the results! Some of the surgical dressings we wrap patient's legs with post procedure drift small sized lint and fibers as we use them. The Hunter Air Purifer got rid of them.

When my asthma kicked up this year and I had to take an extended medical leave my lung specialist encouraged the use of an air purifer especially in the bedroom. I purchased this Hunter model. I have had it for 2 weeks and love the results! We have 3 cats and the resulting dander and hair, plus the usual room dust. They have really decreased since the Hunter was installed. I love the "white noise" and my husband has no complaints about it either. It is not as loud as fan noise on a medium setting we have had in the bedroom previously. As it has a HEPA filter, I know replacement filters will cost more, but should be worth it. A HEPA type air purifer was the only one recommended by my lung specialist to reduce room allergens.

I plan to purchase a second unit prior winter to place in the laundry room where the litter boxes live.

At Amazon's pricepoint and SuperSaver or Prime shipping I am recommending it to all our patients with asthma/allergies.

I told my surgeon boss about how much it has helped me and he purchased three more of the larger units, one for each exam room, so the dust will be reduced for me.

P.S. For cat lovers: Recently I began using a new cat litter Worlds Best Cat Litter 17 lb Originaland have really been pleased with it. No dust(silica dust from clay products, this one is a corn product) when you pour it into the litter box, the best odor control ever, and much less tracking. If you have cats and allergies/asthma I highly recommend checking into this litter.

Happy Breathing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hello fresh-smelling house!!!, November 27, 2008

This review is from: Hunter 30090 11-Feet by 13-Feet True Hepa Room Air Purifier for Small Rooms (Kitchen)
I have never used an air-purifier,but the minute the windows had to be shut for winter,I knew something non-toxic had to be used to fight "doggy winter-odor" from taking over the house. So,not knowing anything whatsoever about air-purifiers,I did some research and ended up with the Hunter. I chose this model because it wasn't very expensive. Also,I knew it wouldn't harm my 4 parrots in any way. That was the number one factor in choosing an air-purifier.
It works.I use it in the living room and have asked my friends to come over to walk in the front door to see if the stale dog odor was still overpowering. They all took deep breaths and pronounced the air fit to breathe. It collects a lot of dander and hair and such.
With 4 dogs,2 cats and 4 parrots,it is hard to keep the dander down to a tolerable level.Maybe I will do an update in the future, but for now,I'm completely satisfied.Oh,one more thing:it is fairly quiet and even on the highest level, the noise is minimal.Plus, the filters are easy to get at.
Maybe I can finally have people over who don't instantly make a "ewww...dogs!" face when they walk in the door.I made it every time I came back from shopping or whatever, but the few days I've used this product, the air seems fresher now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good and Quiet, October 22, 2008

I chose this purifier because it was inexpensive and got a decent review on Consumer Reports. I am very happy with it because its quiet on the low setting so I can leave it on overnight. My husband didn't even notice it was on. (We had to turn off our old purifier but it was meant for a larger room). Only minus-- don't count on being able to use the replacement timer because I found one of the knobs impossibly hard to turn. I guess a little post-it note will do.

5.0 out of 5 stars So impressed I bought another!, December 22, 2008
This review is from: Hunter 30090 11-Feet by 13-Feet True Hepa Room Air Purifier for Small Rooms (Kitchen)
You can see the results! Bright sunshine coming through the window showed air was not clear, haze and particles in it. Couple of hours on medium and it was crystal clear! Can't see any reason to run on high which is slightly loud unless something on the stove burned. Seems well made. Will probably change charcoal filter rather than washing since it has a finite adsorptive capacity which washing won't remedy. Half list price was deciding factor in purchase.

I purchased this air filter for my bedroom because I have a slight allergy to dust, and I like "white" noise. I generally keep it on the "low" speed so that I can sleep. And even on the "low" speed I notice less dust in my room. When I clean in the room, I turn it on "high" for about an hour just to catch any particles that might be floating around. I have had this for about six months, and it still is on the first filter. I am very happy with this machine.
