Designed for large rooms up to 20 by 20 feet, this air purifier changes the air up to seven times per hour and provides a CADR of 260 for smoke, 260 for dust, and 245 for pollen. Its effective three-speed whisper-quiet fan draws air into the unit without excessive noise, and exhausts clean, purified air back into the room from the top of the unit to avoid stirring up settled particles. The purifier also comes equipped with a True HEPA filter that effectively captures 99.97-percent of all airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns in size that pass through the filter. For 30-percent better odor reduction, its separate carbon prefilter reduces cooking, tobacco, and pet odors while also capturing larger dust particles, lint, and pet hair from dirty air.
The air purifier can be programmed to automatically adjust the fan speed up to four different times per day. Choose to have the same programs for every day of the week or choose different programs for the weekdays and the weekend. Other details include push-button controls, a power indicator light, a one-year suggested HEPA filter life, filter-change indicators, and a digital LCD screen that shows the time of day and cleaning level. Even more, the unit's space-saving slim-line styling fits flush against the wall, so it won't encroach on living areas or interfere with household activities. Replacement filters include a 30901 prefilter and a 30940 HEPA filter. The air purifier measures 16-1/2 by 9 by 20-1/2 inches and carries a five-year limited warranty.

This is my second QuietFlo programmable air purifier, and was bought to replace a unit purchased over 10 years ago that ran constantly in my bedroom. I have allergies and also have two dogs that sleep in my bedroom! This unit keeps the room smelling fresh and clean and helps keep my allergies under control. I love the programmable function and that fact that I can set fan speeds based on time of day, and then walk away. I also have moderate tinnitus (ringing in ears) and I find the sound of the fan running at night to be soothing and helpful. I love this unit and highly recommend it!

Motor leaks oil after 1-2 years and gives you headaches,

This is my second Hunter QuietFlo 30401 that the motor leaked and polluted the air after over 1-2 years of use. I purchased the first one brand-new. I replaced the pre-filter on a regular basis as needed before the timer recommended it, and I changed the filter when told to do so by the digital filter life monitor. This was used in a large climate-controlled bedroom. The unit is only used during sleeping or when the room was aired out or cleaned.
The unit works great, but the motor hasn't lasted. I started getting headaches while sleeping and eventually I noticed an electrical burning smell. I traced it back to the air cleaner. I called Hunter and they had me cut the power cord and return the cord when they send me a new unit (they asked me to dispose of the defective unit). They replaced the entire unit with a brand new 30401! Great customer service, it was all paid for and I was good to go. Before disposing of the old unit, I opened it up to take a look and oil was leaking out from the motor and it smelled like "electrical burn" smell. 1.5 years later, the replacement unit did the same thing. I hadn't been sleeping well lately, and last night I had a headache, so I smelled the air coming from the unit and it smelled like something burning. I turned it off and waited the next day to take a look at it. The same thing: The oil from the motor is leaking and it smells like it's burning. So if you are getting headaches - try sleeping with the air cleaner OFF and air out the room! This could be the culprit. The smell isn't noticeable at first but it does effect the air you breath. I also noticed the Hunter label that says "MADE IN TAIWAN". I don't know if this also applies to the motor, but it's too risky to have this replaced and have this happen again. I am stuck with some extra filters but I would rather buy a completely different brand and unit then to risk my health again running this unit while I am sleeping.

This HEPA filter is great. It's super quiet, and the built-in timer is a great way to save power. We also have a previous model which has been going strong for over 6 years, so I expect this will last just as long.
