Good for allergies
This air filter works really well. The real cost is in the filter cartridges so pay attention to that when you shop for an air filter. I keep this in my room to alleviate my allergies from dust and vog (volcanic pollution) and both the prefilter and the hepa filter show that the system is working. My house smells really neutral when you walk in from outside. But...

Good filtration but fan whined
The first one I bought had two problems: the clock did not work and the fan had an annoying whine. I swapped it for another. The second one also whined, and, at higher speeds, the whine became intolerable. I gave up and returned it as well. On the plus side, it seemed to do a good job filtering the air.

The first one I bought had two problems: the clock did not work and the fan had an annoying whine. I swapped it for another. This air filter works really well. The real cost is in the filter cartridges so pay attention to that when you shop for an air filter. I keep this in my room to alleviate my allergies from dust and vog (volcanic pollution) and both the prefilter and the hepa filter show that the system is working. My house smells really neutral when you walk in from outside. But walking into my room where the air filter is placed, the room smells way better, totally different and fresher, especially when we put new filters in. Even my kids noticed that when we first started running it. I like this filter. It would be nice if it fit some standard sized air filters though.
