2.0 out of 5 stars Why logo? Why?????
So you see the photo of this light/fan? See how there is no sign of the Hunter logo in the center of the glass? Well, when you get the fixture, you'll find a big white logo stenciled onto the glass. You cannot miss it. I'm giving this fixture one star unless I can somehow remove the logo. Will post an update when I've either accomplished that or ruined the glass...

I spent quite a bit of time pricing, comparing, and researching various models of light/fan assemblies to install in the small bathroom off my master bedroom. After visiting all the local home improvement stores, I expanded my search online. I slowly narrowed down my options and this Hunter fan bubbled to the surface.

A few things to keep in mind as you're doing your due diligence to locate the fan that works for you.

First, you should be aware that most ventilation fans are made of white plastic. If your bathroom has a window that doesn't block the sun's UV, over time this nice white plastic will yellow.

I didn't want that, so this narrowed my options down to units that have no visible plastic. This GREATLY reduced my options.

Second, carefully consider whether you want a fan that is silent or near silent. I visited my local home stores and demoed these silent fans and decided I didn't want them. If they're totally silent, I can't tell if they're even on! I didn't like this. I wanted a little rushing sound just to let me know that it is, in fact, operating.

Ventilation fan noise is rated in "sones." Three or four sones is about as loud as a quiet conversation. Six sones is very loud. Any fan with a sone rating under 1 is almost totally silent. This Hunter fan is rated at 2.5 sones, which I found to be ideal. Since the fan is off the bedroom, it's loud enough to remind me it's operating, block out any quiet sounds I don't want anyone in the bedroom to hear, yet it is quiet enough not to bother whoever is trying to sleep in the bedroom.

The fan is rated at 80 CFM, which is just right for my bathroom (I calculated it needs a minimum 30 CFM fan). If you have a small bathroom, I'd suggest a fan two to three times the minimum CFM rating for your room. The higher the CFM, the greater the breeze you will feel through the room. When you're taking a shower, too much breeze can feel uncomfortable. It might be tempting to go overboard with the CFM rating, but if you're like me and enjoy a comfortable and relaxing shower, I'd suggest you get only what you need.

I found installation to be a breeze! Aside from the usual miserable attic installation issues, installing this fan was painless. The assembly is light and the fan housing compact (only 6-1/2" high). After the housing is installed in the attic, the wiring, fan, and light are installed below, in the bathroom.

The final installation is outstanding! No plastic visible anyplace. The marbled and frosted glass is very attractive and the hush of the fan is exactly what I was looking for.

I'd recommend this fan for those who, like me, are looking for an easy fan to install that is both attractive and functional. The Hunter series of ventilation units meets these expectations at a reasonable price.

**UPDATE** I used nail polish remover and some Q-tips. Removed the logo perfectly. No damage to the frosted glass, it seems. I'll upgrade my review again once installed.

5.0 out of 5 stars quiet and attractive, April 30, 2009

This made a world of difference compared to the cheapo builder-installed fan it replaced--much quieter. It clears the steam out nicely in my small bathroom. The electrician said it installed easily. I wish it came with plain frosted glass rather than the marble effect, but it still looks nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bathroom light/fan and the Hunter logo does come off., July 20, 2010

Renovating a small full bath in an older house and it's so nice to move into the 21st. century with a fan...an end to the fogged mirror. At first, when unpacked, it seemed big, but it looks great and works great. The guy that installed it for us, commented on how well made it was and how easy the installation went.

And by the way, one reviewer complained about the Hunter logo on the glass globe. I spent about 30 seconds with a paper towel and some "Goo Off", the stuff you use to take price tag glue off, and no more logo. The logo was painted on the outside, so no damage to the frosting, which is internal.

Can't say anything bad about the product. Qaulity construction. Works great and in conjunction with the timer control switch, keeps the bathroom fog and odor free. Just have to remember to purchase the lamp globes in advance of installation... think they are type A-15.

It looks stylish, installed very easily, and works great! The fan is surprisingly very quiet. I bought two for both bathrooms and am very pleased.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate the Logo on the Glass, June 5, 2010

I read of all these rave reviews before purchasing this fan, and I can't believe that nobody mentioned the huge "Hunter" logo that's on the frosted glass. It doesn't show in the photo, but right in the middle of the glass, it says "Hunter" in big white letters. It completely ruins the look of the fan. If I had seen the logo before the electrician had installed the fan, I would have returned it immediately. The logo makes it look cheap, cheap, cheap. Other than that, the fan is pretty big--bigger than I envisioned (but as advertised). The fan looks very big in a small bathroom. It's very quiet. I would NOT recommend this fan to anybody because of that big dumb logo. Now I have to search for replacement glass to fit a brand new fixture. (Too bad I bought two of them!) Grrrrrr.

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Deal!, April 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hunter 90053 Decorative Brushed Nickel Bathroom Fan (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have got to admit, when I saw the price of this Hunter bathroom fan I was skeptical. I have been pricing fans at Home Depot and Lowe's and every one I looked at, didn't stack up to this one. I ordered the Hunter fully expecting to return it when it didn't draw properly or was too loud. I was wrong on both counts. This fan is quiet and it does exhaust very well. It is rated for use directly above a shower where mine is. There is no plastic on this fan either, the brushed rings are metal and the frosted glass is real glass. Others have mentioned the Hunter sticker in the center of the glass, but honestly I can't imagine why anyone would object to it because it is hardly noticeable. If the small Hunter sticker is that much of a nuisance, then maybe you have other problems. Combined with the wireless Hunter switch, this is a winner.

As others have stated, this is a great looking fan and very quiet. Installation was straight forward with good directions for various install needs. Just add an electronic timer like this one: Woods 59008 Decora Style 60-30-20-10, and you've got a great way to vent your bathroom and prevent mildew.
