Looked at other offset umbrellas in store and online. Many are too expensive and heavy. This umbrella was just right in price and movability. The extension feature that allows you to extend the umbrella out and to the side is made of plastic. I was a little worried that the plastic would not hold up under constant use. The umbrella is made of good material. I had to buy sand and fill the base to provide weight to hold the umbrella up. Not a big deal. I can move the umbrella easily anywhere I want it. I have had it for three weeks and like it very much.

Shady, Big and Reasonably Priced,

A 10 foot umbrella puts out a lot of shade on the hottest days. That shade lowers the ambient temperature by a few degrees and thereby making the space under it pleasant. No it does not make the real temperature go down but is sure is nice having a recliner and little table with a refreshing drink handy and some nice music playing while I find the combination of elements suitable for napping. It's big enough so that the sun never actually hits an area where I began or ended. Not once this summer did I have to move the top. When the wind gets strong it is dropped and locked to eliminate the possibility of having to chase a 10 foot saucer. Luckily, nothing bad took place by either wind or rain. The rain has been so sparce we almost forgot what it is like. Moreover, living on a well makes rain critically important but with an umbrella such as this one who cares. Just take a nap. I filled the base with over 100 pounds of sand and that was a fun exercise. Have you ever tried to pour sand from a 50 pound bag into a 2 inch hole with the objective of getting all the sand in the hole? Now there is a marvelous test of stamina and patience. I took the 50# bag and cut a full size top hole in it. Took a dipper made from an old 1 gallon vinegar bottle and dipped out a quanity that was then poured into an empty Tide bottle base with the top removed. You might call that a funnel of sorts. Regardless, it worked and about half way through the first one I tamped the sand down by holding the base at a 90 degree angle to make the sand fill up the nooks and crannies inside the base. Finally, after 3 pieces to the base I put them all together and had a working umbrella. To be a tad safter I placed two more full bags on top of the base and had sufficient weight to hold the umbrella in a safe condition. The crank mechinism works well and so far I have not had any problems. Next year after over wintering I will revisit this site to let you know if there are any issues that need addressing. So sad that summer is almost over. Enjoyed it.

Nice Umbrella, Awkward Base,

I purchased this umbrella for the ease of filling the base with sand rather than purchasing the weights needed for other bases. The base is not as pictured. It's rectangular and so large that positioning around my deck furniture is limited (additionally, it's not very attractive). The umbrella itself is nice, easy to use and appears sturdy.

EASY TO ASSEMBLE. HOWEVER, THE UMBLRELLA SWAYS ON WINDY DAYS, AND THE FOUNDATION REQUIRES EXTRA WEIGHT ON TOP. ALL IN ALL, WHILE LOOKING AT HOW SOME OF THESE UMBRELLAS GO FOR FROM OTHER RETAILERS, I'M PRETTY SATISFIED WITH WHAT HAVE.

The umbrella was exactly what I needed. I was very pleased with how sturdy it is after you fill the bottom with sand. The size and color fit our purposes.

Believe it or not, I still have not been able to completely set up the umbrella I bought about a month and a half ago. It looks terrific, and the product looks of high quality, but it is not easy for a woman to set up, and getting a man to set do it when he comes from work is almost impossible. To me this umbrella has a lot of flaws: it does not stand on its own base(s) very well unless the floor is quite leveled; the bases are hard to fill with sand because the openings are too small; the job takes forever....and finally, when the sand bases are in place, you find that they don't really hold the umbrella in place. Perhaps, more weight is needed. Also, it doesn't say online that you must take it down when not in use....Now I see why... It is not sturdy enough to leave up since the slightest wind will move it about. Additionally, if you have the arm facing one way it will slowly start turning to another direction depending on the floor level. Setting up for use is also a hastle. I have never owned one of these, so I cannot compare it to another brand. However, had I been aware of these issues, I would have opted to get the ones I previously had which go with outside tables with holes in the middle.

It's a beautiful Umbrella. The base is big and even though I filled with stand still needed a patio block to anchor down. It is also a little difficult to open for my wife who is 5'2

We are pleased with the cantilever offset umbrella. It seems to be well-constructed, and was not too difficult to put together. The only thing that was a negative, is that you need to pour sand into some rather small holes to stabilize the base. I think a base that had a cover you could raise and just set bags of sand into it would have been a better design.

We are very happy to have found this umbrella! We bought another one from a local retailer but it was very difficult to put together and the base was oddly shaped and not at all as pictured, so we were a little nervous about buying this online, sight unseen. But it came in a very timely manner, was easy to put together and we were happy the base was not as large & cumbersome as others we'd seen. Also the price was very reasonable compared to most umbrellas of this type.
