Great little lite. Living in an area that seems to attract people to telephone poles, our electricity on the average goes out several times a year. Decided that next time someone met a pole I was going to be prepared.. and I was..it works, and no more fumbling for the candles in the dark. Hunter Fan 45180 IllumiNite 4-LED Multi-Use LightI am glad I finally listened to my intuition to buy several of these to scatter throughout my home.

Bought four of these. When first plugged-in, nothing worked, not even the presumably AC powered nightlight function. After several hours charging the nightlight began to glow on one of the four. After 24 hours charge the nightlight on the first one was as bright as it should be and the emergency light functions worked acceptably. After 48 hours charging the other three only had a dimly glowing nightlight and emergency light functions were so dim as to be useless. The packaging inferred that the items were 2007-era. So, presumably the ni-cad batteries died after sitting uncharged on a shelf somewhere for four years.
The one that worked was OK for its intended use, but not great. The round shape ends up being pretty impractical for use. The three main emergency LEDs are pretty useless pointed up at the ceiling, and there is no other way to use the light when unplugged. Amazon refunded all four with no problem.
