The upright Hunter HEPAtech 75 Air Purifier (30075) uses the same long-lasting micro-filter material used in hospital respirators, incubators and anesthetic equipment. This three-speed model has a portable design that is easy to move from room to room. It features an advanced activated carbon prefilter reduces cooking, tobacco and pet odors while also capturing larger dust particles, lint and pet hair from dirty air. It works well on the floor or on a shelf and it can be wall mounted. It maintains full effectiveness even when placed in a corner or against a wall.
It has a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) that will exchange air up to six times per hour in a 14 by 16-foot room with an 8-foot ceiling. Other features include an air flow rating of 225 CFM (cubic feet of air per minute), easy-to-use controls, and power indicator light.
The HEPAtech system has a whisper-quiet fan that draws air into the unit without noise, and then sends it to a separate washable pre-filter captures large dust particles, lint and pet hair. The permanently charged HEPAtech Electret filter then effectively captures 99.97 percent of particles as small as 0.1 microns in size. This model also includes an ionizer that distributes negative ions throughout the room to enhance the cleaning process while freshening the air.
CADR measures the amount of clean air that a purifier delivers into a room. It gauges real world performance, taking into account filter efficiency, airflow and room size. CADR is the single most important piece of information you need to make a head-to-head comparison of air cleaner performance.

I purchased, through Amazon, two Hunter units over a year ago after my Wife and I finished our Kitchen make-over. We had been using a Hamilton unit but I wanted another unit for the bedroom and one for the dining room that both used the same filters. These two Hunter units have run continuously for over a year and continue to do the job they were designed to do. We run the dining room unit on low and the bedroom unit on high...since I like the noise when I'm sleeping.
Thus, when it came time to put a filter unit in my newly completed Home Theater, located in our basement, the choice was a no brainer. Hunter makes great stuff, and they filter the air quite well. The replacement filters don't last forever, but that's the way it goes, as well, an air purifier is much like a printer..they get you hooked at a cheap price and then make money on replacement filters...this particular unit is fairly attractive and pretty quite on the low or medium settings. We don't use the ionizer on any of these as we have found that if the air cleanser is near a wall, the ionizer will in fact cause paint to yellow...I don't know what's up with that..?? All in all, we are happy campers...now if we could just quit smoking..! Uncle Willie

I'd used a large Honeywell HEPA for years before replacing it with 3 of these machines. They are infinitely less noisy, more compact and attractive. Replacement filters are easily found online for less than $20. I'm trying to extend the life of my original filters by placing a "SWIFTER" dust cloth in front of the installed filter. It does not seem to impair airflow and catches lots of the preliminary dust and hair. I just toss each old sheet each week or so and replace it with another. Dust in the house is down to a fraction of what it had been.

This is the second identical unit I have bought. It especially seems to reduce the amount of dog hair flying around in the room. As usual, Hunter products are an excellent value and very reliable.
