More About the Author

Mark Waid, a New York Times bestselling author, has written a wider variety of well-known comics characters than any other American comics author, from Superman to the Justice League to Spider-Man to Archie and hundreds of others. His award-winning graphic novel with artist Alex Ross, KINGDOM COME, is one of the best-selling comics collections of all time. (Secretly, however, he prefers SUPERMAN: BIRTHRIGHT and his IRREDEEMABLE collections as his favorite works he's produced.)

With over twenty years of experience in his field, Waid maintains a blog at www.markwaid.com that is full of advice for beginning writers and experienced authors both.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Excellent Comic Book, February 18, 2009
This review is from: Hunter-Killer Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
Hunter-Killer volume 1, is amazing. This is one of the best Top Cow comics! Mark Waid (writer) is an excellent story teller, while Marc Silvestri (artist) draws with energy and detail. The last chapters are drawn by Basaldua and Rocafort, who both do an amazing job as well. Yes it does get violent and gory, but that is what comics are for. If you enjoy comics like Cyber Force or X-men, this is a great pick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reminding readers of what a Hero is supposed to be., September 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hunter-Killer Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
Hunter-Killer by Waid and Silvestri is an action packed ride reminiscent of every 1990's and early 2000's Comic idea that wasn't pulled off right. The key difference here being they did it right. When any other writer or Hollywood schmuck would have fumbled the ball Waid executed perfect and dynamic interactions with plausible reasons for the characters actions.

Ellis Is potentially the most powerful Ultrasapien of all. His parents have raised him in secrecy to keep him form being used as a weapon but when he learns the truth he chooses to side with the people his parents were trying to hide him from because he has nowhere to go. In doing so he achieves great things. His parents fear that he would be used as a killing machine are pushed aside by the purity of his ideals. Yes there is a lot of bloodshed in this title, but its never gratuitous, and whenever possible Ellis and Argent try to save lives...something not enough "Heroes" in the Comics, Hollywood, or the real world seem to value any more.

If you want a great Book about what Super Heroes should be this is the one for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read, November 28, 2010
This review is from: Hunter-Killer Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
Yeah, its another Super-hero comic and strangely resembles that TV series 'Heroes'.

Great Artwork, Great story-telling, great extras at the back.

the only reason this gets 4 stars and not 5 is because I didn't enjoy the ending ;)
