Book Description

November 29, 2011
NANCY GIDEON RETURNS TO HER STEAMY NEW ORLEANS PRETERNATURAL WORLD WITH AN IRRESISTIBLE NEW SHAPE-SHIFTER ROMANCE.

The secrets he knows about her could get him killed.

Transferring to the New Orleans Police Department, Detective Silas MacCreedy has a hidden agenda: to secure his clan’s place once again in the Shifter hierarchy. What he didn’t count on was stumbling upon a sexy assassin who could shred his best intentions and lead him into a dangerous dance that threatens to engage his heart.

But the ones he doesn’t know . . .

Monica Fraser knows just how to make a man beg—for his life. But she has no clue how to fight her attraction to the fiercely intense detective who seems determined to get in her way, both professionally and intimately.

. . . could kill them both.

When emotional attachments to the past and an unexpected glimpse of a different future have her questioning her deadly purpose, Nica must discover the truth about her secret abilities in order to free herself from the forces that control her. But that freedom comes with a price—trusting those she’s been ordered to eliminate.

2.0 out of 5 stars I really tried, but nothing clicked December 6, 2011
By Nikki B
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Trained assassin Nica is used to living on her own and truthfully she likes it better that way. Her entire life has been lived moment to moment, connections with people just brought pain. She may be able to kill a man with little emotion, but denying her attraction to the fiercely guarded Silas, is something she doesn't know how to handle.

Silas has his own secrets. Secrets he can't afford to forget. A job he can't afford to do. People are counting on him infiltrating the New Orleans police department and bringing home what he was sent to collect. The last thing he needs to is fall for the assassin that seems to always be showing up.

Nica has powers emerging she knows nothing about and she needs Silas to help her figure out what is going on. The few people she is coming to understand better then herself, are the very same people she is supposed to kill.

Hunter of Shadows is one of those books that you try a lot to love. You want to love it. You keep telling herself to read more. But in the end you are disappointed and feel like you ordered something and the waitress brought you something completely different.

I started Hunter Of Shadows thinking that even though the story seemed to center around a different couple, that we would still get to see a lot of Charlotte and Max. Unfortunately they don't have much of a role in this one and for that I felt let down. Oh, they are still there, some. Just not in the fashion I wanted them in.The previous main couple has been relegated to secondary roles for this book and after being the center for four other book, this didn't feel right.

I didn't really like Nica. I can't put my finger on why exactly.

3.0 out of 5 stars I want more Max and Charlotte... December 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I wanted to like this book because I love the previous books that are based on Max and Charlotte, but I just wasn't as hooked on these characters as I am on Max and Cee Cee. I am absolutely fascinated with Max. He is one of the most complicated, yet simple male character I have ever read. He makes me laugh, cry, blush...he's amazing. I find myself in total love with his character. So, I'm very dissapointed in reading that Ms. Gideon is currently not planning any more books on Max and Cee Cee, unless she gets fan feedback asking for more I guess. I can honestly say that I bought this book just because she mentioon on her website that we would see Max and Cee Cee in it. That's probably why I'll read the next one too, just to read more on Max. I have to say that I desperately need another book on just Max and Cee Cee...badly. This book left us with a cliffhanger about Max and Cee Cee that I hoped would be explored in an entire book. I would love to read Max's pov in regards to the news Cee Cee receives at the end of Hunter of Shadows. I am begging you Ms. Gideon, please please please give us at least one more Max and Cee Cee book, I need a HEA or at least some kind of closure, epilogue....something.

4.0 out of 5 stars Book Obsessed Reviews: Hunter of Shadows December 20, 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Hunter of Shadows starts out of the gate with action. Silas and Nica meet when he happens upon her thinking she's a damsel in distress, but is far from it. The two of them had major chemistry, even when Nica was trying to kill him. The only time she wasn't trying to kill him was when they were trying to jump each others bones. They both have issues with trust, but can't seem to stay away from one another.

Nica was unlike any heroine I've read before. Sure I've read books with strong female leads, but Nica is so much more than that. She could hold her own against the men in this novel and at times best them. Silas is the only one who can get through to her and keep her from her deadly mission.

Nica comes from a tragic past, and Silas come from a place of always being the provider. With his responsibilities to his sister and childhood love, he doesn't really have anything that's all about him. Until Nica. Both characters have such depth that you can't help but to be drawn into their story. As far as his sister Brigit goes, at times I couldn't stand her, but by the end of the book I was hoping I'd see more of her in the future.

Of course we also catch up with super couple, Max and Cee Cee. These two never fail to entertain. This latest installment in the Moonlight series has twists and turn that I didn't see coming. I was totally engrossed in this one and could hardly wait to see what was around the next corner for these characters. I look forward to reading book six.

4.0 out of 5 stars Steamy November 30, 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Having not read any of the Moonlight Series I think I was running a bit behind on this one but still it was quick to figure out most of what I was missing as the story progressed. I really want to go back and read these from the beginning because the characters are just really awesome and strong and I want to see how it all began so to speak.

Silas..good Lord he could rescue me any day of the week! (sitting here fanning myself just thinking about it) I totally enjoyed how he and Nica met and from there on in the pages just sizzled so much I was afraid my fingers were gonna catch fire. I could just feel the passion flowing between the two whether they were sexually mauling each other or totally trying to kill one another. Really good storlines going on thru-out including mob scenes, some kick ass fight scenes and yep some breath taking sex so I dont recommend for the faint of heart.
