Good Beginning to the Series!,
By
This review is from: Hunter's Moon (Half-Moon Ranch) (Mass Market Paperback)
After the death of his mother, Brent Hunter must take over control of the family ranch because his father, convicted of murder, must spend 10 years in jail. After discovering that the family ranch was deeply in debt, Brent sets off to take care of paying off the debt.In an attempt to gain more money for the ranch, Brent travel to a fort in order to obtain a government contract for horses. Unable to secure the contract, Brent steps into a saloon for a drink. Once there, he hears one of the best singers, a dance-hall girl named Opal. "Opal" a/k/a Crystal, is running. She changes her name and hair color often, in an attempt to stay ahead of the brother she believes betrayed her. After a brief meeting with Brent, she is taken by his charm, but realizes that she has to move on, she puts him from her mind. HUNTER'S MOON begins the Hunter clan story strong. Brent and Crystal's love develops well, under the artistic hand of Bobbi Smith. I look forward to the other books in the series.

Great Love Story!,

Well the same 4 authors do it again in another 4 part series beginning with Bobbi Smiths Hunters Moon. Again there are family serets and a family torn apart by the secrets. Thankfully you get a wonderful love story out of the books. Brent Hunter meets and falls in love with Crystal Stewart who sings in a saloon and uses the name Rudy. Very entertaining.

Bobbi Smith made me lose sleep!,

Bobbi Smith made me lose sleep! Her latest novel (which is first in a series) is too good to put down. I quickly got caught up in the tale of Brent and Crystal. They are very realistic characters. Bobbi's writing is fast-paced, yet doesn't leave holes in the story. She left a lot of threads for the future writers to pick up, and I hope they do half a good a job as what Bobbi did!

I am hooked!,

Hunter's Moon (Half-Moon Ranch)
This book is the reason I am here. When I read it I did not know it was the 1st in a 4 book series. This was a little disappointing because I had never had a book leave me with SO many unanswered questions. I loved the flirtatiousness of Brent and Crystal. I loved the drama. I was hooked at the end to read the next book. I love "who done it" books and historical romances, so this was a win, win! I would not recommend this book unless you were going to read all 4 installments. I'll let you know how the others are.

Description from the back of the book:
Half-Moon Ranch Somewhere in the lush grasslands of East Texas was a place where the sun had once shone on love and prosperity, while the night hid murder and mistrust. There, three brothers and a sister fought to hold their family together, struggled to keep their ranch solvent, while thy awaited the return of the one person who could shed light on the secrets of the past. Brent With his father about to come home after ten years in prison, the last thing Brent Hunter needed was woman trouble. And beautiful Crystal Stewart was trouble with a capital T. What else could you call a hellion who had to be rescued from one scrape after another, even carried out of a rowdy saloon? But an incredible night of wild loving convinced the man who always did right that sometimes a little wrongdoing added a whole lot of spice to life. Hunter's Moon * This is the first in the 4 book Half-Moon Ranch series & I absolutely loved it. The adventure was awesome the romance & chemistry was the greatest & all the characters were very likable & they leave you anticipating the next 3 in this series. And to top all of that off it's written by Bobbi smith whose books I love. Highly Recommended.

Fine storytelling,
This review is from: Hunter's Moon (Half-Moon Ranch) (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1870 on the Half Moon Ranch in Texas Hill Country, Brent Hunter heard shots. He raced home to find his drunken father Jack holding a gun while his mother lies dead. The three older males, Brent and his two brothers Quince and Matt, hide their loss behind stoic faces. The youngest child, their sister Abby was hysterical. Jack is convicted of the homicide. Brent plans to make a go of the ranch, but learns how much collateral his father took out at the bank.Ten years later, Brent spends time at a nearby saloon because he likes the bargirl Ruby who reminds him of another bargirl whose life he saved. As he flirts with Ruby, she completes what he started when he rescued her by falling in love with him. Brent does not need female trouble now, but he wonders if love is really trouble. Ruby who is Crystal Stewart ponders whether he will be there for her again when her past finally catches up to her. Though the angst is at stratospheric levels, western romance readers will enjoy this tale. The story line is action-packed while the lead couple is a charming duet struggling with their respective pasts. Though the villain still lurks (for the sequels) and his motives seem stretched, readers will appreciate this novel and want to read Quince's tale, (see Elaine Barbieri's RENEGADE MOON). Good story and characters. A bit "high school" style.,

The writing style threw me on this one. I felt like I as reading a teen romance novel. However, the story line is good. The characters are likable. The story has a mountain of romance, but not enough tension to balance it. There is a nemesis, but he is not given much time to keep you on the edge of your seat. The scenes that are exciting don't last long. It's a quick and easy read. Sweet story. Not the most exciting. The love scenes are very mild. I'd say this is a safe one to pass on to your teen daughter.

The first of the Half Moon stories,
By
This review is from: Hunter's Moon (Half-Moon Ranch) (Mass Market Paperback)
First in a series of books about the Half Moon ranch and the family that calls it their home. This is Brent and Crystal's story. Brent is left in charge of the family when his father goes to prison for killing his mother in what appears to be a drunken stupor? Or is it? Though this is not revealed in this story there is a lot of family tension about it.. It is a sweet story and I enjoyed the tale. I do have to admit that I am looking forward to seeing Abby's story though. The interesting part is that the other 3 books are not by the same author...
