IF YOU COMPARE CALL TO CALLS, THEN ONE STAR IS A BIT MUCH FOR THIS ONE.,
This review is from: Hunters Specialties Hammerin' Crow Locator Calls (Sports)
Of the nine or eight calls I have and have had over the years, this one is probably the least effective of the lot or at best second from the bottom. The tone is simply not there and even a young crow, or a crow that is not all that bright can hear the difference quite easily. Yes, it will call in a crow or two, but unlike other calls, will not excite a mob nor cause the birds to linger very long.
While I have not torn one of these up yet, nor have I torn it down, the workmanship appears and sounds to be rather flimsy...it has a tin like quality with no depth. While it may not offend the ears of all crows, it certainly offends mine. I would strongly suggest that the buyer spend a few dollars more and go for a bit better quality. Crows are very smart birds in many ways, but are not all that difficult to call into a blind. All of my other calls do a much better job of that and after all, that is what this call was made for. This crow call, sounds like a duck call. Not even sure if it qualifies for anything.

Got this thing at a Bass Pro Shop, and I was severely disappointed! I think one review I read somewhere said it sounded like a "party favor". Well, I think a party favor would be more effective than this. The crows were severely disinterested. Plastic obviously can't emulate the sounds of a true high-quality crow call. I suggest just looking on ebay for some vintage Lohman calls or some other wooden call. This one is worth nothing.

Note: This item is not as pictured. This call is not black. The bottom is green and the top is black and it is much bigger than pictured.
