5.0 out of 5 stars Best Value Caller on the market
I tried this caller yesterday. I went hunting alone to a ranch in Sonora, Mexico.
I really wanted to see if it worked, but my expectations were low. I didn't expect to hunt the first time I used it.
For the few dollars it costs, it works great.
You can't really expect more reach than the 50 yards as advertised.
And you don't need it. I started...

3.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for a while
I used this caller for a while and never got it wet. Then within a year, it broke, I swapped batteries, but no go.

Barring that, when it worked, it worked great. I had probably 30 crows in my yard using the caller, 7 crow decoys and a plastic owl.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Value Caller on the market, November 16, 2010
I tried this caller yesterday. I went hunting alone to a ranch in Sonora, Mexico.
I really wanted to see if it worked, but my expectations were low. I didn't expect to hunt the first time I used it.
For the few dollars it costs, it works great.
You can't really expect more reach than the 50 yards as advertised.
And you don't need it. I started calling for abaout an hour, and then a very big bobcat (gato salvaje) came and passed just 5 yards from me, and stayed there for a minute with his full attention caught on the caller.
He didn't even looked at me, as his attention was on the caller, and my kid's stuffed bunny I placed on top of the caller.
When he was between me and the caller, I shot, succesfully, the bobcat.
1 shot, 1 kill, 1 caller, 1 stuffed bunny, the first time I tried it.

I now know that if the bobcat was attracted to it, mountain lions, coyotes and other predators will come too.

Recommended item...... I know there are others better, but they cost 2,3, or more times this one.

We live in the woods, we have about 30 to 50 cats around the property. Some cats been missing. I seen a coyote. I ordered this call. The next day after it arrived. I setup back of the cutting area. Put it on cottontail.. 30 minutes later we had one less coyote to worry about. works like charm. good on fox also. will stick to this type calling from now on. You not only have less work on yourself, you can make sure your away from the calling area. those yotes just have to see what's making the sounds!

5.0 out of 5 stars quiet but great, January 22, 2011

This review is from: Hunter's Specialties JS Attractor with Remote (Sports)
This caller has excellent sound. Each of the 5 calls sound sharp and realistic, and because they "loop" for long periods of time, you don't have to spend a lot of time pressing buttons. The remote is great, as it allows you to both do away with wires and get some distance from the caller in your hunting setup. There are two negatives. One, if you are running the caller with the remote and are some distance from the main unit, you cannot adjust volume remotely (the adjustments are only on the unit). You've just got to pick your volume and stay with it until you decide to get up and walk over to the unit. The other negative is that even though the caller has a built-in speaker, it's not very powerful. Unless you're hunting on a very calm day, the speaker is too quiet to broadcast sound any real distance. I plug mine into the Cass Creek Bighorn speaker, and problem solved. You can get crows' attention from a mile away. Despite the volume/speaker issues, I give this caller a top rating due to its great sound and good value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, March 25, 2009

This review is from: Hunter's Specialties JS Attractor with Remote (Sports)
Purchased the Johnny Stewart Crow Attractor took it out into the field along with a few decoys and it works! I was concerned it would not be loud enough but it turned out not to be an issue. Crows showed up every time in about 5 minutes at each "run and gun" setup. I would use my mouth call periodically in conjunction with it and found even better results! For instance , I would use my mouth call for a few loud initial "come here" calls which would attract distant crows, the caller now would keep them coming in. I could interject a "growl" or "comeback call" with my mouth call when needed along with letting the caller do the "constant and diverse calling" it is capable of producing. This allowed me to "listen" and rest my mouth. I found however that the remote did not respond anywhere near the distance stated. (Perhaps it was the battery in the remote, don't know, never changed it)
But that was ok since I just kept it clipped to the main unit folded it over a branch while camoed in the brush. Are there better callers ? Yes. But they are more costly . Nice product for the price ,its compact, (for quick crow setups), simple, used it on several hunts it works for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't take long at all..., April 14, 2011
By
I bought this caller for my father's birthday (which was yesterday). Here in Western PA, the coyotes can be hard to see sometimes, let alone kill. We've had luck with mouth calls, electronic calls, and shooting them on the occasional lucky sighting. Regardless, after receiving it, my father took it out tonight to try it out, and within about an hour had shot a big black one. He had set up the caller about 50 yards away from his position and placed a stuffed animal beside the speaker...the coyote never even saw him.

He already owned an electronic caller, but it was bulky, relied on cassette tapes and a heavy battery pack. It was a pain to lug around and set up. This caller is lightweight, handy, and it runs on simple AA batteries. It's not exceptionally loud, but it also won't unnerve the coyotes by blasting them with loud squawking.

I give it five stars. A solid value for the money.

This is a cheaper version of some of the more expensive game calls. While it doesn't have all of the bells-and-whistles as other versions, and has some fundamental flaws (ie: Why can't I change the volume with the remote? I have to get up and adjust manually), it works as it is intended. The first time I went out I called in a pack of Coyotes into about 100 yards before they spooked. The second time I went out it was slightly windy, and it doesn't produce enough volume to call through the wind. After reading some review boards, it is best to not go out in windy conditions anyways. If you can pick this product up for a decent price, I recommend it.

Have only used this product on one hunt thus far. It performs as advertised. The remote worked good up to 50 yards line of site. The recorded distress vocals sounded very realistic. I did not have any coyotes come in on this hunt, but was only out limited time also. I plan on using it again.
A great call for the price!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy, January 6, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This Hunters Specialties Johnny Stewart's Attractors is a complete waste of money. I just used it for the first time coyote hunting and good thing I took my other callers. First off the remote control range is no 100' it is like 20' at max, second I can hardly hear it at 20' away so how is a coyote going to here it from any further lol. This is very disapointing buy and feel miss lead on the discription. Save you money and dont buy this. However Johnny Stewart had great calls just not this one. So do not hold this agians that brand, every company has a bad apple now and then. JUST THIS CALLER IS junk.......
