Chilling to the Bone,
By Johnny B. (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hunting Club, The (Hardcover)
Sandom's writing is crisp and clean, often disturbingly poetic. The characters are so vivid, I found myself looking over my shoulder. This is one creepy thriller that captures the 80s to a T. It's a mixture of Bright Lights, Big City and Deliverance. The plot drives forward relentlessly, forcing you to watch, like a car crash observed from a traffic helicopter -- the protagonist's profession! You can see it happening but you can't stop it, you can't touch it, you can't do a damned thing . . . but watch and brace for impact. Superb. Made me run out and read Gospel Truths, Sandom's first . . . and I wasn't dissapointed.
