This TPB features some of the best Huntress stories, from her debut origin story which explains how and why the daughter of Batman and Catwoman became the Huntress to her 7 page backup series in Wonder Woman, where she teamed up with Power Girl and Robin and fought classic villains like Solomon Grundy, the Thinker, and of course the Joker. Along the way, Helena Wayne falls in love with Harry Sims, has an emotional reunion with Dick Grayson and Alfred Beegle, and even avenges her mother's honor when she fights the nasty Lionmane. Paul Levitz does a masterful job, doing more in 7 pages than most writers do in 23, while the art team, consisting primarily of that rhyming pair Joe Staton and Bob Layton, do a great job of walking the fine line between gritty realism and cartoony drawings, finding the perfect balance. Love their splash pages featuring a demonic-looking Joker and huge snowflakes as Helena looks out her window. Highly recommend!

What if Batman and Catwoman had a daughter?

It's a brilliant idea and the basic concept of this book. Helena Wayne is the Huntress, daughter of the 1940s versions of Batman and Catwoman and fighting crime on the mean streets of the 1970s.

Originally published between 1977 and 1982 these stories still hold up fairly well today. Levitz's stories are fairly standard superhero soap opera. The Huntress must fight crime while wrestling with her own inner demons and fears and protecting her secret identity. She makes some rookie mistakes but wins in the end. A grown up Robin, an aging Joker and Power Girl all stop by for brief cameos. Some of the stories are pure cliches and some of the villains forgettable but if you're in the mood for 70's era comics it's all fun.

Joe Staton turns in very solid art and draws some sexy women.

It's a shame DC scrapped this version of the Huntress, she has a lot more potential than the angry mafia princess they replaced her with.

I was blown away when I finished this book! Now, I've never been the biggest Huntress fan, having just read titles where she is a supporting character and I wasn't to impressed with her then. I took a chance on this TPB and I'm glad I did! I have fallen in love with Earth-2 Huntress! Always just thought she was created to be a cheap Batgirl rip-off, but I know better now. I love how Huntress is the perfect blend of her mother and father (Earth-2 Catwoman and Batman) yet her own personality is what drew me in. A strong woman with strong morals. Paul Levitz and Joe Staton are amazing! Reminded me alot of the Stan Lee and John Romita Spider-Man run in the late 60's (just not as deep). Paul Levitz's introduction really showed how much love and compassion he has for this character. Now if I only respected the modern version of Huntress as much as her predasesor.
I'm going back to reread all those old All Star and Batman family issues of which she is featured.
