5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting novel that you just won't put down
This book has it all - murder, love, mystery, and intrigue in a science fiction setting. It kept me up at night as I got throughly involved with Keef, his friends, and his enemies. You won't be disappointed. It's easy and enjoyable reading for all ages.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hupe it Up
This is a long book, and the action is tense, packed and labyrinthine at times... but overall a good read. If you like Frank Herbert you will mostly likely enjoy Huperum. The author does a serviceable job of projecting the conflicts between a colonialist Earth that no longer holds the monopoly on what is "right" -- and the adventures of a strong-willed man,...

This is a long book, and the action is tense, packed and labyrinthine at times... but overall a good read. If you like Frank Herbert you will mostly likely enjoy Huperum. The author does a serviceable job of projecting the conflicts between a colonialist Earth that no longer holds the monopoly on what is "right" -- and the adventures of a strong-willed man, Keef Terrason who is hell bent on teaching both the colony and his colonialist masters a lesson or two.

Worth the extra money for the deluxe oversize paperback.

4.0 out of 5 stars Doug's Review, April 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Huperum (Paperback)
Huperum is a good read. The author has an interesting setting. That setting is a universe where man seems to be on his own. In this setting Novus is man's shining example of what can be accomplished. The plot centers around the conflict between Earth and Novus as Earth tries to reestablish its control after a absence caused by chaos on Earth. Nicely woven into the plot are the conflicts between the citizens of Novus. There are good developing Characters. Huperum itself is an interesting concept and the way the leading characters approach it is exciting. The book is an excellent accomplishment for a first book. The book also deserves a sequal. Having read thousands of SF books going back to the Golden Age of the 50s, I pronounce this book as good SF.

5.0 out of 5 stars Huperum - World Without End?, March 2, 2001

This review is from: Huperum (Paperback)
This deftly told, tightly written tale will keep you up reading well into the night. Keef Terrason, our hero, is just an ordinary guy with ordinary hopes and dreams. But his destiny is far from ordinary. Although he is stunned when his mother falls in love with a man who could be their enemy, Keef learns to forgive and accept. Keef sees his dreams of a quiet life with the girl he loves shattered by family and social pressures on them both and his world teeters on the brink of an interplanetary war that would surely destroy it. Still, Keef faces the future with courage - even when he's called upon to risk everything he still holds dear. This is a must-read for every Sci-Fi fan!
