Movie insightful, music fantastic, why no Sheryll Crow?, December 14, 1999
This review is from: Hurlyburly: Soundtrack From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I have to disagree with a previous review of the movie by the ignorant with poor grammar and sentence structure. The movie was disturbing at times perhaps, but not sick and silly as suggested. I found the film humanly insightful and fairly intelligent. Penn and Spacey performed as expected by capturing their respective roles perfectly. Good cameos by Ryan and Shandling. The music was excellent. Great to see quality modern jazz arrangements as this was. I must further agree with atleast one previous complaint, Sheryll Crow's song played through the credits was a true delight. Why was it not included? My only guess was it didn't fit the jazz category of the rest of the soundtrack. Will it alteast appear on one of her own albums in the future? Regardless, I'll buy the Soundtrack.

Hurly Burly - Baerwald Dishes Trippy Jazz!, November 2, 1999
This review is from: Hurlyburly: Soundtrack From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of David Baerwald since his DAVID + DAVID daze. I broke up with my girlfriend Kim to David Baerwald's BEING ALONE TOGETHER, so that whole thing reminds me of that time. This CD plays like it belongs in TWIN PEAKS, and THAT is a GOOD thing! The thing that I cannot understand, is why David Baerwald is an undiscovered treasure, instead of a majordomo of the music world! Welcome to the Boomtown . . . indeed!

Sneaks up on you like a welcome buzz., May 3, 1999

Dim the lights, turn off the tv, open up a window and a bottle of merlot, and listen to the soundtrack from Hurlyburly, david Baerwald's latest great work. Different in taste and texture from any of Baerwald's previous efforts, this album sneaks up on you like a welcome buzz. Enjoy.
