From the Inside Flap

In Charleston, the children look for pirate treasure and face a hurricane!

About the Author

Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in 1890 in Putnam, Connecticut, where she taught school and wrote The Boxcar Children because she had often imagined how delightful it would be to live in a caboose or freight car. Encouraged by its success, she went on to write eighteen more stories about the Alden Children.

The Boxcar Children went to Charleston to help Mrs Ashleigh clean up her house after a recent hurricane had messed it up. But someone had been trying to steal one of Mrs Ashleigh's valuables, the Pirate's Gate. Why? Read this book to find out.

I purchased this title from the Kindle Store for my child's Kindle. Every time I attempt to download it and read it, I receive an "Invalid Item" message that says, "This item is protected with DRM and cannot be read on your Kindle. Please remove the item from your device and download it again or purchase a copy from the Kindle Store." It loads on my son's Kindle. I have removed it several times from both devices. The Kindle Store will not allow me to purchase the same title twice. I'm not sure what to do, but I would really like some feedback.

I really love the books and what am I saying?I love all of your books, I love the mystery in it and especially the boxcar children.I could read it all day.I think I would recommend it to third grade through fifth because they all ready know how to read and I think they would be more interested in it than some people.

As with all of the Boxcar Children Mysteries, this one is no exception. I love the series and I hope someone continues writing more of them after #137. There are also about 21 Specials that go with this series. When a writer can hold my attention in reading their book, then it is a great book and so far this series has done just that.

A Kid's Review on February 27, 2001
Format: School & Library Binding
I enjoyed this book. It is a mystery during the hurricane season in South Carolina. The mystery is about the Alden children looking for a pirate treasure but someone else is looking for it too! Who do you think will get it? I think you will like this book because it is a mystery to solve and you learn about hurricanes.
