Format: Paperback
I have always enjoyed the " In action." series, and the Hurricane in action is not an exception. However, the real strength of this book is the photo's. There are a great many photo's of an unusual nature and showing the Hurricane in many different marks and situations.
Where the book is weakest is in the information. It is not bad, but it feels like the pictures are carrying the book. The info is very 2 dimensional. Especially when compared to other books in the series where the info and pictures compliment each other.
If you want to pick up a In action book this one might not be the best. If you are after info on the Hurricane specificly then you will find elements of this book useful.

I love aviation, especially World War Two aircraft! The Hurricane, in my opinion, was / is a beautiful plane that helped win the Battle of Britain and even served in some squadrons in the Soviet Russian Air Force. Marmaduke "Pat" Pattle was the top Hurricane ace with 35 victories (all in Greece). I started collecting these profiles as a teenager. They are terrific references for model builders as well as aviation enthusiasts like me! Excellent line drawings, black and white photos and color profiles facilitate the readers appreciation of this awesome aircraft! Don Greer is an excellent artist as evidenced by the fabulous cover artwork! I have a Listmania List dedicated to the Hawker Hurricane and it's pilots that can be accessed through the search box here at Amazon for further recommendations. The Squadron Signal Publications are high quality, well researched profiles and the author, Jerry Scutts has executed many of them! He is a well-reputed aviation authority. I also recommend. Supermarine Spitfire in Action - Aircraft No. 39. and for more detail on the Hurricane. Hawker Hurricane - Walk Around No. 14 by Ron MacKay.

For those who want a great overview of this plane this book is well worth the price. This is not an in depth work, it provides basic information on all the versions of this classic plane including the Sea Hurricane. There is sufficient information to help modelers with their project, but not to the same degree as a "walk around" type of publication. Regardless, well worth the money if you are not an extremely serious aviation historian or an hard core plastic modeler.
