Dylan has always been a great story teller. He has some performances where it is difficult to understand his lyrics, but this is certainly an exception to that. This story about Hurricane Carter was written by Dylan while Carter was working toward a new hearing to get released from prison. After 20+ years he was finally released and the state of Rhode Island appealed it to the Supreme Court which upheld his release.
In part, Dylan brought loads of attention to the story and did so in his own unique way. Give it a listen, and I'm sure you'll agree it's classic Bob Dylan. |
