3.0 out of 5 stars Hurricanes in Paradise July 8, 2010
Format:Paperback
A hurricane is approaching the Bahamian resort Atlantis, and Riley, the director of guest relations at the resort, is dealing with some storms among her VIP guests. There's Tamyra, a former beauty pageant queen who is terrified of the water and mourning the loss of something she isn't willing to talk about. And Winnie, whose children sent her on this vacation as a way for her to relax and hopefully break out of the grief she's feeling after the death of her husband years ago. And Laine, the famous author who is making Riley's life miserable with her diva-like demands.

The four women come together and learn to face their demons as they weather the storm that approaches the island.

Similar to the book I reviewed yesterday, I appreciated that this was a book written from a Christian worldview but without the obvious cheesiness of so many Christian fiction novels. The characters in this story were very realistic. I enjoyed "watching" them interact with each other. I appreciated the theme that everyone has a backstory, and that knowing another person's story brings understanding.

This book would be a great beach read. Although not destined to become a classic in literature, it was worth the time I spent reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hurricanes in Paradise is the Perfect Storm! June 3, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have been a fan of Denise's books for several years and have read every one with the Savannah series being my favorite. Hurricanes in Paradise may have just become my new favorite. What an absolutely beautiful story about friendship, faith, healing, and grace available for imperfect souls. I fell in love with Winnie, Tamyra, Laine, and Riley....and every one else. Laine's experience in her hotel room after being confronted by Riley touched a deep place in me. This story came to an end with my wanting to read more....I simply loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A summer MUST READ! June 2, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm proud to say, I've read every one of Denise Hildreth's books!

While my favorite remains "Will Of Wisteria", I so enjoyed her latest offering.

Hurricanes In Paradise tracks not only a storm, but the lives of four, very different women. Who needs to see "Sex In The City Part Two" when you've got drama in the Bahamas?! :)

"Hurricanes" gives you a glipse into the hearts and souls of these women who are literally and spiritually in a storm's eye. There were laughs, jeers, tears and even a few fights! "Hurricanes" leaves you with the comfort of knowing that whatever storm you have or will face, you're still on God's radar.

I would recommend this as a must-read this summer. If for no other reason, it's set in the beautiful Atlantis resort... Even better, its message will encourage your faith and help your heart heal.

I've had a category 4, once or twice myself...
