Nothing new here and presented in a very boring way. I kept reading to see if something fresh would be presented, but very stale information instead. Just didn't cut it for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book helped me get through heavy traffic and more, August 15, 2005

I read this book on a plane to Washington, D.C., and thank goodness I did because when I rented a car there, it took one hour to go 17 miles. Instead of griping, I slowed down and enjoyed the scenery, thanks to what I gained from the "Hurry Less" philosophy. Judy P. Christie reminds you to let today's adventure begin, but to entrust the Lord. She cited many Bible verses I had not been familiar with before such as "Better is one handful with tranquility than two with toil and a chase after wind"--Ecclesiastes 4:6.

5.0 out of 5 stars Transform Your Life, September 23, 2011

While reading "Hurry Less, Worry Less" I could instantly relate to the author's situation before she changed her life. I'm a month late sending a present to a dear aunt. She will understand but I should organize myself better next year. Sometimes I'm so busy doing other things that I finally only get to read for two hours before bed. For some that might be a luxury but for me it is a necessity. So basically this book is about living your dream life with less worry and stress. If you are on the go all the time and feel overextended this book may bring you some peace.

Do you have a year's worth of magazines to read and the pile is growing?

Are you using your calendar effectively?

Do you find it difficult to relax?

Do you wake in the middle of the night worrying about all the things you have to do the next day?

This book provides many answers and will help you make things you love a priority. First you will be asked to analyze how you spend your time and then you will be given ideas on how to live your dream life.

"Hurry Less, Worry Less" will be especially useful to women who work outside the home and also have a family to take care of. Is your life all work and no play? Judy Pace Christie has lived a stressful life without much self care and then she decided she'd had enough. Her ideas are very helpful if you want to balance your life and work responsibilities. You only live once. You can't read this book too soon!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ah, remind me again . . . (Kindle formatting review at the end), February 8, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I generally read books on stress reduction and finding the joy in life not because I expect to read something new--though I'm often pleasantly surprised--but because of the calming repetition of the ideas found between the covers. This book fits the bill.

Write down what you want to be. Avoid the "oughts" and "shoulds." Try the old tape-your-goals/lists-to-a-mirror trick. Slow down. Be aware. Pray. Listen. Write down the roadblocks in your life. Scrapbook your journey. (OK, that was a new one.) Reflect. Rest. Get involved in a church. Identify your worries. Schedule your dreams. Appreciate beauty.

Earth shattering? No. But as the author says about halfway through the book, "We learn such things from repeated exposure," and "I began to realize that I needed to hear advice and feedback repeatedly to move me forward."

Along with the advice, the book gives examples, and a reminder that you don't have to do all of this at once. Just a step at a time, friend. A step at a time.

Kindle formatting: 4/5

Overall, the formatting is fine. However, it appears to be missing the very end of the book in the "Resources to Help You along the Way" chapter, cutting off mid-sentence: "I came across this book about Claire" -- and that was it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Below average. Not suggested, July 20, 2009
This review is from: Hurry Less, Worry Less: 10 Strategies for Living the Life You Long For (Paperback)
I had read Joyce Meyer's "21 ways to finding peace and happiness" right before this. I gave that a five star and placed it in my listmania list. That definitely affected my judgement of this, which I think, is quite inferior in all aspects. In case you believe in Christ and want to read something to improve your living/peace of mind etc like what most self help books attempt, please give this a pass. The one mentioned above and Rick Warren's "God's answers to life's difficult questions" are much better.
