Malzahn began his coaching career in 1991 at Hughes High School. In 1994, he led the Blue Devils to the state finals, which had been their only appearance in school history.
In 1996, he took the head coaching job at Shiloh Christian High School in Springdale, Arkansas. His compiled record at Shiloh was 63-7-1. In 1997, he implemented the hurry-up, no-huddle philosophy into his offense. For the next four years, the Shiloh Offense was one of the nationÂs top yardage producers, averaging almost 7,000 yards per season. Coach Malzahn took Shiloh to four state title appearances and two state championships. Two of his quarterbacks set national records, and in 2000, his team ranked as high as 11 on the ESPN.com National High School Football Ranking.

For someone just starting out in the coaching profession, I love getting my hands on all sorts of football information. I have always been intrigued in the No-Huddle concept, and this book explains how you can incorporate certain techniques on how to install this in your system. Lots of diagrams and pictures, for the visual learners, but also good descriptions on how to get this offense up and running. This gets the blood pumping!!!

This was a great book and its obvious Gus has a knack for offensive strategy. After reading you will see why his Hurry Up offense is hard to stop, and why it can rack up the huge numbers even at the college level. The book was lacking in a few spots, the most glaring was the lack of proofreading. I usually have typos, so I am usually the last one to point out others grammar mistakes. However, I caught myself catching too many errors along the way in reading this book. I would like to see Gus do a 2nd version of this now that he has college ball under his belt and tell us what adjustments he has had to make since high school.
