**Get your hands on this one**
Even though it is out of print, do some hunting on the web and you should be able to track a copy of the CD or the LP eventually. Believe me it is worth the wait for sure. Thunders does a few covers on this album eg. Bob Dylan's "Joey", also he re-recorded a few of his old tracks from previous albums eg. "She's So Untouchable" and "Ask Me No Questions" from his debut solo album "So Alone". He even goes back and does a cover of a New York Dolls tune "Lonely Planet Boy" all and all it is a good balance of material. All of it acoustic, all having a slower sound, really brings out the sorrow and emotion that Thunders is spewing in the microphone. Anyway if your a fan of his work, and you haven't heard this album I suggest you pick it up as soon as possible.

ALso look for other Thunders albums such as: So Alone, Que Sera Sera, the NEW Too Much Junkie Business, In Cold Blood, and Copycats.

My favorite johnny thunders album. Bare basics, just him and his guitar and oozing with emotion. First time i heard it, fell in love with his high, vulnerable voice--what a cool sound! this cd sounds amazing throughout--every song is great from covers to Dolls and solo stuff. My fav favs--Sad vacation, Hurt me, Im a boy im a girl, Go back to go,You're so strange and a great version of Lonely planet boy. XOXO the girls will always love johnny....

Hurt Me is my favourite record of Johnny Thunders. Johnny and his acoustic guitar and nothing else, but his songs. It is the most intimate, sincere, naked, sad, and lovely album I know. Sad vacation, Hurt me, Diary of a lover, MIA,Eve of destruction, I'd rather be with the boys, are some of my favourites. If you like Johnny Thunders, you CAN'T MISS this album. It will be an experience between you and him. COSA VOSTRA!

This disc changed my life when it was still an LP.What can I say?This is Johnny at his most intimate and vulnerable.It says a lot that he could rock as hard as he did and still have the same flare for songwriting when it comes to acoustic music.These songs still hold up and some have even appeared in various T.V and film projects.This disc is(with the exeption of three tracks)Just Johnny and an acoustic guitar.He reveals himself a man of deep feelings and not just a well dressed punk junkie.This disc is a Johnny monument.But if you can't handle anything more than Johnny's punk and roll style...you may wanna steer clear.But I say five stars.There is only one disc like this one in the Thunders officail catalog!www.markfloresmusic.com

Johnny Thunders wrote his share of rock songs. None of them appear, in rock form, on this album. And pehaps that is why it is this album, and none of the others, with the possible exception of "So Alone," that reveals Thunders to be a human being, and not some sort of pitiful, if fascinating, cliche. Without an amp, or hard drugs, to hide behind, Thunders is quiet and timid, almost. "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory" has never sounded this sad, or hopeless, "Lonely Planet Boy" has never sounded so touching, and "Sad Vacation" has never sounded so terribly depressing. Not that this is a dirge of an album to listen to. "I'd Rather Be with the Boys" is quite a bit of fun (and actually *listenable*, unlike the version that appears on Gang War). The incomlete version of "Eve of Destruction" that is the second song on the disc, pretty much sums up Johnny Thunders' life in an minute and a half. He, the closest thing the world has ever had to the living, breathing incarnation of Rock'n'Roll, and the world itself, during the Cold War, were perpetually on the Eve of Destruction. A lonely place, indeed.

I hated this one at first, I'm a New York Dolls fan and a Heartbreakers one. I bought this one because I bought everything Johnny recorded. It's my favourite, now. It is HIS recording. At first I considered it hippie rubbish, I was not that broadminded at the time. Now I go quiet and listen to this man pouring his heart out. It's not nearly a perfect recording but that actually makes it better. Johnny is a lonely planet boy, who had too much too soon. It was always his turn to lose...

why is this not in print and more. I have tried to find this album for about 5 years and im not paying no aweful 100.00 dollars. O yea, great album has has johnny volume laying down his soul.

joeleduc@earthspring always wanted to be a legend like johnny but it's not working out.So he is becoming a critic. Great,whiney stuff from the heart and soul of a man who probably had more guts than your average cd reviewer.

johhny sings in an even higher whine than usual on this mix of covers, old material, and a bit of new. some of the songs should have been longer, but i attribute that more to johnny's inability to play more than one verse before nodding out. overall, a very suprising enjoyable release.
