5.0 out of 5 stars Another Donalds/Enigma/Crocodile Production W/Bite !, March 20, 2001
This review is from: Hurts to Be in Love (Audio CD)
Donalds has a way of interpreting other artists songs and making them his own. In other words, had I never heard the originals I could swear on a stack of bibles that Andru Donalds was truly meant to sing these songs and that they were his own to begin with.Take for example, on his last album he did a re-make of Aerosmith's Dream On;fantastic. He also released a single last year called Precious Little Diamond from 80's dance/pop artist Fox the Fox;mesmerizing ! On this 3 track single release from his 2001 Europen release Let's Talk About it he again is able to captivate listeners with his rendition of a Gino Vanelli tune. The second track Muddy Water is a typical Cretu/Gad production that merits no disappointment whatsoever;in fact, it's quite catchy. Ditto for the 3rd track... In agreeance with other listeners/critics Donalds definitely needs more American airwave and video marketing exposure. He may be famous in Europe but is limited here in the U.S.

5.0 out of 5 stars The definitive version of this song., March 1, 2001

Watujel (San Antonio, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hurts to Be in Love (Audio CD)
Vannelli's 1987 original was beautiful. It sounded like nothing else on the radio--a minor-key ballad that despite whiny lyrics, generally avoided pop formulas. Donalds has done him one better. He sings rings around Vannelli, and Michael Cretu's production creates an ethereal, otherworldly, absolutely gorgeous backdrop. Could be a huge hit if the label would make some promotional effort.
