5.0 out of 5 stars Husband in Training
The location in this book was great. It's Sacramento, CA my hometown. It was fun reading about the characters going places and recognizing them. It was a good story line. Jenny Brown and Nick DeSalvo are best friends. Nick had been the best friend of Andy, Jenny's husband, before he died. Nick decides he needs to learn how to be a husband -- connect with the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Story
Another new Kindle release of Rimmer's back list.

The hero comes across a little immature in the beginning, but improves as the story progresses. The 13 year old was realistically, but tiresomely, adolescent. I liked the heroine's relationship with her mother and the brief glimpses of her life as a teacher. (But she never reflects on her students: grading...

The location in this book was great. It's Sacramento, CA my hometown. It was fun reading about the characters going places and recognizing them. It was a good story line. Jenny Brown and Nick DeSalvo are best friends. Nick had been the best friend of Andy, Jenny's husband, before he died. Nick decides he needs to learn how to be a husband -- connect with the inner child and his feminine side. Polly, Jenny's 13 year old daugher, decides she wants this job. She thinks she can give advice on love lives. Throw in a mixed up kitten and you have a fun and good story. Ms. Rimmer draws her characters so well that I like to root for them and want their lives to be happy! Which they slways are!

(But she never reflects on her students: grading papers, relationships with coworkers, concerns over a new principal, but nothing about her students.)

Actually, I liked a lot about the heroine, in general - except how sad she was. The entire tone of the book is melancholy, which is the exact opposite of what I am looking for in a romance. If this doesn't bother you, you will probably enjoy this well characterized story.
