2.0 out of 5 stars Just so-so
After reading the reviews I thought this book was going to be really good. I found the most helpful parts to be in the last few pages. Also, her website has a lot of great articles on the subject. I found I could put the book down, many times, unlike the other readers on here. It took me a while to get through. I would highly recommend her website for help and a more...

4.0 out of 5 stars It gives hope to the betrayed spouse, October 6, 2005
This review is from: My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me (Paperback)
I saw Anne Bercht on Oprah, and immediately purchased this book. She seemed so positive and a real role model, and she and her husband did look like they had both learned a lot from his affair. This book, however, showed that it was a long road for her (and him) to get their marriage back on track, but a road that may be worth taking for some couples thrown into the devastation and rollercoaster ride of infidelity. I liked that the book did occaisionally give the husband's side of the story, but the book mainly focussed on Anne's daily struggle of how to cope with her husband's affair, and how to just get through each day...one day at a time. At some points I found the book to wallow in its own self-pity a bit, but I know that this is what happens when you are betrayed by your spouse in this way. Anne had every right to throw herself a pity party every once in a while, and sharing it probably helps some readers see that. I think her life post-affair was probably a bit more dramatic than most couples, but the message she was trying to convey was helpful. Basically, she tries to help readers understand that no one knows what the experience of infidelity in a marriage is like until you've been through it, and that, if both parties make an honest effort to rebuild the shattered trust and communication that results from an affair, the new people that emerge can be even better than they were pre-affair ...together or separate. I would recommend this book to women who have been betrayed by their husband's infidelity and are looking for hope and empathy from someone who has been there. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was because I was hoping for a little more about how they grew together as a couple post-affair, not just about how she grew.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lifesaver in a Sea of Turmoil, July 7, 2005
By
This review is from: My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me (Paperback)
Anne and Brian's story was a lifesaver for me in the days following discovery of my husband's affair. No one except those who have lived through this experience know the utter devastation and horror of discovering the one you trust the most, the one you have spent your life with, the one you have taken to your bed, has given away their heart and body to another. When this happens to you, all that you know is true seems to be false and the world looks flat. Anne's courage to fight for her husband and their marriage was a shining inspiration to me. Brian's love for Anne and their family gently guided me to see my husband is not a terrible ogre who wanted to hurt me. This is the ONLY book that will tell this true story not only from the betrayed spouse's side, but also from the perspective of the betrayer and the "other woman". A virtual lifesaver for those who are drowning in pain!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me, September 12, 2005
This review is from: My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me (Paperback)
This book was so helpful in my effort to keep my sanity as I went through my husband's infidelity. I didn't want to talk to anyone, since I still wanted to be married to him, but with no one to turn to and going through the pain and the turmoil, the author's experience helped me to understand that my emotions were normal.

Reading about her husband's point of view had also prepared me for my husband's withdrawal symptoms after the affair ended and I was mentally ready and willing to offer the comfort and the acceptance that he desperately needed.

I highly recommend this book to anyone going through the experience and for others who want to avoid such painful experience in their marriage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, from the beginning all the way through, July 11, 2005
This review is from: My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me (Paperback)
I believe it took a lot of courage for both Anne and her husband to release this book. I also believe it is beautifully honest and heart opening. I was particularly impressed with Anne's writing style. I suppose when you are writing from your heart the message is easy. When I picked up Anne's book I could not put it down. I read the entire evening and didn't stop until I was finished. This book is filled with valuable life and love lessons. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding! Suspenseful! Compelling!, April 28, 2005
This review is from: My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me (Paperback)
Spellbinding. Suspenseful. Compelling. These incredibly powerful words describe Anne Bercht's admirably candid new book, "My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing that Ever Happened to Me." In her inspiring true story, Ms. Bercht takes the reader on an incredible journey filled with fact and emotion to masterfully reveal how her husband's affair, which nearly destroyed their marriage, ultimately made her a better, stronger and happier woman.

The book is skillfully written and filled with colorful language, brilliant insights, and hope--lots of hope--for those who are in the process of coping with their spouse's infidelity. Thank you, Anne, for sharing your story and your wisdom so that others may reap the benefit of your experience. Your amazing book truly has all the makings of a best seller! Good job! Bravo!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, March 4, 2005

What a read! You won't want to put this book down as it takes you on an emotional but triumphant journey through this chapter of Anne & Brian's life. I loved reading the many perspectives as written by some of the actual people involved - particularly Anne's teenaged daughter. Absolutely everyone should be able to identify with someone in this book - the betrayed wife, the misunderstood husband, the wounded children, the "other woman" or the friend who desperately wants to offer comfort. There is much to be learned here from someone who writes as though she is speaking to you in person!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful first-person account, very helpful, July 9, 2005
By
This review is from: My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me (Paperback)
This kind of responsible first-person account is extremely helpful in providing valuable insight and perspective about this whole issue. This book makes a wonderful contribution to the growing willingness of couples to share their experience with affairs in order to help others. It offers clear insight into the pain involved as well as great hope for the power to recover and rebuild the marriage.
I hope this book will be widely read, not only by other couples who are struggling to recover from an affair and rebuild their marriage (in the way Anne and Brian have done), but I also hope the general public will read it to gain a clearer understanding of the realities of the impact of this experience on everyone involved.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Summer Or Holiday Read As You Can't Put It Down!, July 7, 2005
This review is from: My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me (Paperback)
This book is an example in which truth is far more interesting than fiction. It is a must read for anyone who is considering an affair, currently in an affair or living with the pain caused by an affair. Anne and her family give the reader the unique opportunity to witness the rollercoaster of emotions from three different perspectives (wife, husband and child) and will leave the reader with realistic hope. The best part? You won't be able to put it down!

This review is from: My Husband's Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me (Paperback)
I couldn't put this book down. I recently experienced the betrayal of my husband having an affair. I gained a lot of knowlegde from this book that I can apply to my own situation. I loved that it was written from not only the betrayed spouse's point of view, but also included excerpts from her husband and daughter. I disagree with the reviewer who said that you wouldn't like this book if you aren't into religion. I am not "into" reglion, but still loved this book!
