Im a big Diana Palmer fan and I had never read anything by Margaret Way. I know Diana Palmer is incredibly repetitive in her stories, but I found that neither of these two were anything more than ok.Diana Palmers story is about a woman named Dana who of course in love with a much older man named Hank. She has just lost her father and in his will it says that Dana must marry Hank in order to keep her land. Hank is divorced and is still unsure of how he feels about his ex-wife. Dana is an ok character. She doesnt have much direction though so shes not as strong as other characters Diana has invented. Hank is so undecisive, its as if he wants everything without giving anything of his own. Just OK characters, nothing more. Margaret Way's story is about a young woman (Carrie) who is in love with her neighbor (Blake). She too, struggles with her alcoholic father and suffers even more when he dies. Blake has always acted as a protective figure for Carrie. Later, they begin to tell each other about their feelings. Characters are also just ok. I dont like Carrie at all. Shes a very weak character in terms of stating her feelings towards Blake. She feels passion yet she doesnt know what to do with it. She avoids confrontations that she has been wishing for for a very long time. Blake is ok. But he too, doesnt say exactly what he feels. He expects her to know just by his brotherly actions. Overall, this story drags a lot. And the ending is so abrupt it just makes it worse. If youre a Palmer fan youll probably enjoy it only because its so short. I had never read Way's stories, and if the rest drag like this one with mediocre endings then i dont look forward to any others.

I bought this book specifically for Diana Palmer's Paper Husband. I was not disappointed.Although I do have a few issues with it. lol I just wanted to slap Betty when she asked if Dana was the stable girl... Then when Hank kissed Betty for old times sake, with her husband sitting IN the room with them and Dana just upstairs I just wanted to hit him also. I dont understand how he can be affected by Betty then an hour later on the way to Corpus Christi he realizes he doesnt love her after all and that he is very lucky to have Dana as his wife and wants her to remain that way... I dont care if he was two states over if he felt that way he should have turned the car around and went to see Dana instead of making the excuse they were already in Corpus Christi. And if he felt that way why didnt he call Dana any the month he was gone "getting Betty's late husbands finances in order." Its a phone call. Although I have these issues I did really like this book.As for Margaret Way's Bride In Waiting, I started reading it and couldnt get into the story so skimmed through. What little I read, I didnt like too much. |
