4.0 out of 5 stars Julian plays the wounded lover again, July 27, 2001
By A Customer
Julian Sands plays his usual unhappy lover. It's one of those movies where the plot is couched in lots of sexual encounters, so if those distract you, it might not be the best film for you. However, if you're the kind who likes to push the plot into the background and focus on seeing perfectly formed naked bodies, this is a good one. And then, if you like the combination of sexuality and plot, this carries its own. MmmMmMM, Julian. :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Talk, talk, talk, September 18, 2006

Explores the idea of open marriage, an idea that probably looks better in the abstract than in the real. So the case here. It concerns a ménage-a-trois that has wife Joanna Pacula spending lots of time with her lover (Tcheky Karyo), to the growing chagrin of her husband (Julian Sands). Handled differently it could have been a pleasant satirical look at marriage and responsibility, but it opts instead for lots of nudity and internal soul searching through too much speechifying by the characters. This is a European trait - let me tell you as boringly as I can what I'm really feeling deep inside - and slows the action to a dead halt. Based on Alberto Moravia's novel, which was much more clever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie!, January 10, 2011

Old story line of an open marriage and no way did I pay the price offered. I think my copy was $10, but five stars for Pacula's frontal nudity - that alone is worth the price!
