Hush Little Baby, is a book about a girl and her dad's second ex-wife. The girls name is Kit; she has been hanging out with a new guy named, Rowen. Shea, Rowen's cousin and Kit's best friend, has told Kit that Rowen has a HUGE crush on Kit. Kit has been through a lot because of her parents divorce. She is trying to be a person with out a personality. She does not show her emotions and has become very good at it. Dust is Kit's ex-step mother. Unlike Kit, Dusty has a very distinct personality of being known as an idiot. Kit is at her dad's house looking for a sweatshirt when Dust pulls up and practically throws her baby into Kit's arms. With the baby in Kit's arm and Kit in complete shock, Kit watches as Dusty drives away without telling Kit a thing about the baby. Kit stays at her dad's house for quite a long time with the baby she has named, Sam the Baby. Rowen and his sister, Muffin, come over and find Kit with a baby. Of course they think the worst and think the baby belongs to Kit. Kit, Rowen, Muffin, and Sam the Baby, go trying to find Dusty and try and find the babies dad. Along the way of finding clues and crazy, smart, and people like Dusty, they find out a secret about Sam the Baby. They begin to wonder.... "Would a mom sell her baby like worn out clothing"? I really liked the book because of the mystery and suspense involved. The part I didn't like was the ending. It sort of left you hanging and it didn't really fit the book. It is a great book to read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hush Little Baby, May 21, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hush Little Baby (Paperback)
By Caroline B. Cooney

Kit Innes is a typical teenage girl, but her family is a little weird. Her mom and dad got divorced, and then her dad marries a ditsy lady named Dusty, who he then divorces. Kit's father has two homes, one on the East Coast, and one on the West Coast. She also lives with her mom, in New Jersey, a few blocks away from her dad's East Coast house.

One day, while her dad is on business on the West Coast, Kit goes to her dad's house in New Jersey, and while she is there, Dusty drops off a baby. Kit thinks that Dusty just wanted to show her the baby, but when Dusty puts the baby in Kit's arms, and then drives away, Kit has no idea what to do. Then, she thinks that Dusty will be back soon, but when creepy things start to happen to Kit, and the baby, Kit freaks out, and many things start to scare her.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hush Little Baby, May 25, 2004

This review is from: Hush Little Baby (Paperback)
Hush Little Baby is one of my favorite books. It is a good book that has mystery and suspense involved. It is about a girl named Kit who had an ex-stpmother named Dusty who left a baby with her. Dusty went to her ex-hudbands house and found Kit their. Dusty had a baby with her and asked Kit to hold him. When she did Dusty took off and left the baby, which Kit knew nothing about, with her. Kit really started to worry when Dusty didn't come back for a long time, and when a stranger came knocking on the door and looking in the windows. Kit soon found out that the stranger went to get the baby. Kit thought that dusty was trying to sell the baby because she was that idiotic and that she didn't want the baby. The rest of the book tells how Kit trys to help the baby from being sold to some bad people and being placed with a good family.I really didn't like the way the book ended because it was a cliffhanger. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Hush Little Baby is one of Cooney's better books. Every page is exciting. I couldn't put it down.
It all starts when Kit Innes is handed a baby boy from her Step Mother Dusty. A dumb women who only wants to spend money.Dusty says she'll be back in an hour but that hour turns into to two then three and Kit has the face the fact that Dusty's not coming back for the anonymous baby.
Through the rest of the book Kit tries to unravel the dangerous web that has been spun around her.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hush Little Baby Review, May 3, 2005
This review is from: Hush Little Baby (Paperback)
As a high school student, I look for books that have action and keep me on my toes. I have found that with Caroline B. Cooney's Hush Little Baby. It starts with a young teenage girl receiving a new born baby unexpectedly to an unknown man peering through her windows, to Kit and her friends being kidnapped and involved in a high speed chase to the police catching the kidnappers and solving the ATM scan. That is how Cooney keeps her readers attached to the book.

The book begins with a young teenage girl named Kit at her house and her ex-stepmother shows up unexpectedly with a little baby and tells her to take care of this thing while she goes out and takes care of something. A young couple calls her and tells her that they are the ones adopting this baby and that they need kit to bring the baby to them. Kit goes along with it and takes along her friend Rowen and his little sister Muffin. The couple is mean and they want the baby for money. Kit and her friends are now in a high speed chase and they end up being kidnapped. At the end of the book kit finds out that her ex-stepmother and this young couple are the people who started this big ATM scan that is all over the news.

The novel is good for young teens because it has a lot of action like kidnappings, high speed pursuits, and young teenagers trying to escape from kidnappers. With Cooney's use of flashback and action, there is a lot to keep the reader interested in the book. I would also caution the readers that there is some violence and just a few harsh words throughout the book.

Overall, I really liked the book and it will make the reader want to read on to the end. I would recommend the book for young teens like myself and for those who like some action when they read.

Hello-- I you are trying to decide to buy the book or not, go for it. I read it and I read it all in one day. You may say why waste my money on something I will read that fast? You should get because you should: A) pass it around to all your friends. B) Read it over and over again. C) It is a great thing just to have. Now I have read some reviews at Amazon and they tell you the whole plot. Now I won't do that, but I will say that her style ( Caroline B. Cooney's)is very much the same. I remember reading it one (1) day after school. It was like, skip dinner, the plot will go on without me. So, to conclude you must read this book, even if you decide no to buy it because it is my ALLTIME favorite book!

This was a really neat novel. I read it and I was so awed by the written work, I have read every single book of Ms. Clooney's. This story is about a teenage girl who is alone at her dad's house, until her ex-stepmother comes and thrusts a few week old baby boy into her arms then leaves. Who's the father? Why did she give the baby to her? Will she ever come back? This is a must-read for all of Ms. Clooney's fans. Great work, Ms. Clooney!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Hush, Little Baby": No Lullaby for the Timid, August 21, 2000
By
Lisa C. Hayes (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Kit Innes makes a casual vist to her father's house only to be thrust into an afternoon of intrigue, terror, and breath-taking suspense as she must come to the aid of an abandoned baby. She must use cunning and instinct to avoid individuals who are out to harm her and the little baby she knows nothing about. The story becomes even more involved as her friends become innocently involved in a strategic came of cat-and-mouse. This novel is interesting and fast paced. It will be an excellent read for one interested in psychological thrillers.
