5.0 out of 5 stars Good Mystery Read
I bought HUSH because I'm a Nancy Bush fan and I REALLY enjoyed it. I loved the long list of characters and multiple viewpoints all heading to a future point. Just my cup of tea. It's what makes a mystery great. I found Nancy Bush because of her Jane Kelly mysteries and started reading her other books too. She leans more toward characterization and her sister Lisa...

She leans more toward characterization and her sister Lisa Jackson is more heavy on plot, but they're both on my list of favorite authors.

4.0 out of 5 stars A ROMANTIC SUSPENSE TO DIE FOR! HUSH BY NANCY BUSH..., September 10, 2011
This review is from: Hush (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
HUSH by Nancy Bush is an intriguing romantic suspense. This is the story of a tragic accident that will leave the bonds between those involved shattered. It is a "Cross your heart and hope to die" story that will have you turning pages. It has secrets, revenge, mystery, suspense,"accidents",

murder, buried past, some romance, and shocking twist. It is fast paced that will have shivers running up your spine and a shocking ending you want see coming. A thriller from beginning to the last page.Hush is a great read, but don't read it in the dark or around a campfire. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Complex Mystery, July 17, 2011
This review is from: Hush (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
Twelve summers ago, Coby Rendell and a group of her friends gathered around a campfire on the Pacific coast and shared secrets with each other. The same night, one of their friends--a handsome boy that all the girls loved--died in a tragic accident. Twelve years later, the secrets the girls shared are still hidden and festering, and tragedy strikes again. Another accident? Or murder? Coby teams up with sexy detective Danner Lockwood--the one who got away--to solve the mystery of how her friends died. Someone resents Coby's sleuthing, however, and she may be the next "accident" victim.

The large cast of characters in Hush made the story difficult to follow at times. Every character has his or her own private drama and reason for potentially committing murder. The story reads a little like a soap opera with multiple mysteries layered on top of one another, and the plot is undeniably complex. The heroine is a smart, grounded, and courageous main character, and readers will find themselves rooting for a happy ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars exhilarating twisting thriller, July 10, 2011
This review is from: Hush (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
The summer before their senior year at high school, the gang had a drunken camping party. However, the fun gala turned ugly when seventeen year old surfer dude hunk Lucas Moore fell from a cliff to his death. Tillamook County Sheriff's Detective Fed Clausen interrogated those at the ill fated event.

Years later, Coby Rendell who attended the tragic event comes home to celebrate with her family her stepmother's birthday. Many of those who were at the campfire will gather together for the first time in years. Coby's former boyfriend, police detective Danner Lockwood wants a second chance with the woman he regrets got away. She realizes she remains attracted to him. However, a homicide occurs that leads to Coby and Danner investigating who among their friends is a killer

This exhilarating twisting thriller shows hate lasts longer than friendship. The cast of a quadrillion friends can prove overwhelming with some purposely stereotyped as if the old high school crowd never fully moved on past the tragedy a dozen years ago. Although having a civilian work shotgun on an investigation seems inappropriate, fans will enjoy Hush wondering who the killer in plain sight is as the death count doesn't quite add up.

1.0 out of 5 stars No depth, no suspese. Repeating ideas., September 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hush (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
First, there are too many characters. It seems to me this book was contemplated, but finished in a rush and mailed in.

The story is actually not complex. Just the opposite, in fact. Coby and Danner are wanting to reunite after years apart and end up in the same place. They awkwardly and ineffectively investigate the murder of Coby's stepmother who is only a few years older. The seemingly obvious suspect at the center, the disorganized and terribly uneventful investigation reveals nothing really. Every so often Bush comes at you from the killers perspective but it was not engaging and I felt stupid reading it. The terrible job Coby and Danner did by the end where Juliet, the actual killer just spilled everything while holding Coby at gun point almost like the end of an episode of Scooby Doo.

The seemingly inexorable stream of characters was left undeveloped. You didn't care about any of them and you couldn't keep track since it was so shallow. A repeating theme in the book was Lucas' girlfriend at the time of his death, Rhianon was killed while hiking. It was revealed anticlimactically in the last page of the book. For as much as this was discussed, it seems the Bush decided she'd forgotten it at the end and just brushed it on. What a waste of time this book was. No effort here. Much effort to read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Much, July 23, 2011
This review is from: Hush (Zebra Romantic Suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has too much detail. It could have been 100 pages less. Too many side stories, too much detail, I kept having to remember who was who of the charcters. Poorly written and the story was too jumbled. So disappointed! Do not waste your time.

Wish I wouldn't have bought this book. There are too many characters to keep up with and it seems like the author keeps repeating herself over and over. I couldn't even finish the book!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Too many characters!, July 8, 2011
This book is very boring. There is no way you can keep up with the numerous characters in this book without a map. I have always liked Nancy Bush but this is not one of her better efforts. Save your money and get it from the library if you simply must read it. I wish had!

I have really enjoyed all of Nancy Bush books ever since I read Blind Spot. Hush has been on my watch list for over a month, I was so excited when it was finally released. I have to say I was very disappointed. The story was slow getting started and quite boring. The story had alot of promise it just didn't deliver. Still a fan of Nancy Bush, hope her next book is better.

I enjoyed the beginning of the book, but it was a bit flat towards the end. I liked the characters, but thought there were too many side stories to keep up with. It was okay.
