1.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't last
I've had the 125B model for about 3 years and during the first 1-2 years it worked good. During the last year it became harder and harder to start. I tried everything and found the gas cap was not venting properly. Although that helped a bit, it didn't completely solve the starting problems. Despite checking all of the adjustments, changing the spark plug, cleaning...

This review is from: Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I previously owned an electric blower and then I had the Poulan Pro PPB300E that worked fine for the first couple of times I used it. Then for the next two years it was very hard to start, the engine would not run properly and had to keep it running mingling with the throttle and choke, and when it ran it did not seem to blow as it should have. Now it finally gave its ghost, the engine locked up. Since it was not worth fixing it, I went out and bought the Husqvarna 125B
I had a few surprises:
- At the first touch I noticed how much lighter is than the Poulan. After mounting the air pipe and nozzle, although is so light, it feels "solid".
- The starting rope can be pulled very easily. In fact so easy that at the first pull, I put my back into it and pulled so hard that I reached the end of the rope probably and the handle just flew out of my hand. I know... you're not supposed to do that, but it didn't seem to have hurt it.
- It started at the third pull, which I think is great for a brand new motor.
- Thereafter, I stopped and restarted as I was cleaning the yard several times, and every time it started at the first pull.
- The air speed and the blowing pattern seem to be very good because the dirt blows away really fast, significantly faster than the other blowers I used.
- I love the throttle being mounted on the handle as it gives you nice control over the air speed, especially when you are close to the finish and try to pile up the dirt. Also I love that it has a "cruise control" lever, which you can move to get the desired speed and then you don't have to hold the throttle, which is helpful on larger areas.

I see nothing wrong or that I would liked changed yet, so the only question remaining is how long it will last.

One note: I really do not see what is the difference between the 125B and 125Bx. The 125BVx is the same but comes with a vacuum kit.

Follow-up note: August 5, 2011

I thought it may be worth noting that more than two year later the blower still works just as well as it did the first day.
No problem whatsoever, no maintainance of any kind, just filled the tank, done the work.
Although it doesn't start ALWAYS at the first pull anymore (when it's cold), the second or third (worst case) will do it. Still runs great and surely doesn't look its age.
When I'm going to need any other gardening tools, I will definitely stay with the Husqvarna brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the real deal Get one!, October 17, 2009

This review is from: Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I had a Poulan Pro 25CC blower for two seasons, and had nothing but trouble with it. Today it gave up the ghost (wouldn't draw fuel, or even "pop" with a shot of ether, I suspect a blown seal). So, when I realized an hour's worth of work had taken all afternoon and was only half done, I wrapped that bad boy around a tree and went and bought the Husqvarna 125B. It "popped" on the first pull and started and ran great on the second. Made short work of the leaves. It's lighter and just as powerful as the Poulan (when ya could make the Poulan run), and quieter. I like the cruise control, and even better, the air intake on the RIGHT side so for us right handers, it isn't constantly trying to ingest my shirt tail. Good stuff!

This husqvarna 125B blower blows great and it a perfect blower for homeowner and is heavy duty as long you follow directions and use good quality gas and oil. I recommend using 89 or higher octane with two cycle oil intented fo air cooled engine. I bought the at ebay for $125.00 great deal and amazon price is okay, but they are cheapers one out their.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Blower, August 7, 2009
This review is from: Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
We had had only marginal success with Craftsman blowers. So, we were looking for something more substantial. This appears to be it. Though a bit heavy, it is well balanced and appears to be very well designed. It started easily right out of the box, and it moves air through a tube of modestly variable length.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, lightest and high quality handheld blower, July 9, 2010
By
CyberSimba (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
Let me explain the three adjectives I used in the title of this review:

Powerful
This blower provides more than enough RPMs for various activities like:
cleaning up leaves,
cleaning/blowing dirt from your driveway,
cleaning left overs from your yard after you are done mowing your lawn.
pressure blowing against the sides and shingles of your home to clean spider webs
I have tried a few other blowers in same category (home owner's handheld blowers) and this blower beats those by any day.

Lightest
Among the blowers I tested, inspected, this is by far the lightest (again in its category). For the amount of power it provides its really quite light. I would still say that if you are looking to do long hours of work and cannot imagine carrying the blower though light weight in your hands for long hours, please do get yourself the one with backpack. I somehow find the handheld version more convenient.

High quality
All of blower's parts, design is really high quality. You can certainly tell what you are paying for. None of the mechanisms on this blower were fragile or flimsy. It has a solid construction and well thought out design.

A few more features I like about this blower are:
1. No electric wires, hand held design makes it more flexible and maneuverable in hard to reach areas.
2. It has the rubber knob to push air out of the valve in order to help start the blower faster. Many old snow blowers also have had this knob and I find it very handy especially if you are using it for the first time in the spring season after keeping it unused in garage for entire winter season.
3. I feel that this blower uses fuel very efficiently. I could easily go several hours of non stop blowing without needing to fill the gas tank.
4. Husqvarna does provide a gutter cleaning attachment (you can purchase separately for $29 from their website) and vaccum attachment both of which can be handy.
5. It has two buttons: one that you press and runs the blower as long as you have it pressed. The other button is such that you can adjust it to a speed you need and forget about it and blower keeps running at that speed. This way you can use it in a mode where you just need to blow frequently but only when you find something to blow OR use it in a mode where you need to keep blowing certain area for long amount of time for a desired speed.

A few downsides to consider before you buy this blower:
1. This blower is handheld so if you plan on blowing for long hours and imagine that it could cause you hand fatigue, shoulder pain or so. I would say that do not buy this version. You can go for any other backpack blower that you may like. Its basically your choice because some people find hand held a better choice because they have back issues and don't want to stress their back carrying heavy blower on their backs. Some people don't like carrying blower in hand as it can be tiring after 20 min or so.
2. This blower does need mixture of oil and gas. So if you are particular about using the mixture every time, you would be fine. On the other hand if you think that having oil and gas mixed in a separate container is a hassle then you might want to consider a blower that takes gas in its gas inlet and oil in its oil inlet OR simply an electric corded OR cordless blower.

A money saving tip: I bought mine at Lowe's as I could use their 10% off coupon

hope that helps

5.0 out of 5 stars Great leaf blower!, August 24, 2009
This review is from: Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I just received this blower (Husqvarna 125B) to replace my older Poulan that seized up on me. This one is much quieter and lighter. I could actually have a conversation with my son who still had his iPhone ear plugs in while the blower was idling. Nice hand-trigger action. Everything went very smoothly, took just 5 min to setup and clear the sidewalks after my son mowed the lawn. Assuming it keeps working like this, I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Little Blower But CAUTION, March 23, 2011

This review is from: Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
As I tend to do, I've waited to write this review, otherwise I'd be commenting on the packaging or delivery, not product performance. That out of the way, this is a fine little blower. Well built, light and easy to handle, starts first time every time even after months of sitting in my unheated shed, moves my grass clippings and light leaf load out of the way with no problem. Highly recommended for those like me who don't need a huge honking blower. Two issues, one minor, one not. As for the small gripe, the air intakes on the sides of this unit tend to suck up against my trousers, so I have to remember to hold it out from my side a bit or two. It's so light, holding it away from your body is no problem, just an annoyance. I don't wear shorts so those of you who do might have a bit more problem with this but I doubt it. On the major side, I hate Husqvarna customer service. While I've had no problem with this unit, I have one of their chain saws that I dearly love. Works hard, starts perfectly, nicely made, really a good saw. However, my first one failed because someone at some factory forgot to ream a casting lip which broke off and lodged between the piston and the cylinder. Husqvarna customer service was totally worthless and I mean TOTALLY WORTHLESS. Good thing I bought the saw at Northern Tools because they made it good, no questions asked, as I'm sure Amazon would have as well. My point is this ... in my opinion, Husqvarna makes good stuff, just be sure to put a reputable retailer, one with some money in their pocket and/or some swag with the factory, between you and Husqvarna.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pay attention to this, April 13, 2011
This review is from: Husqvarna 125B 28cc 2-Stroke 170-MPH Gas-Powered Handheld Gas Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
Use only 91+ octane gas with 2 cycle engine oil only in any 2 cycle engine. Fuel should not be used if older than a month. That should solve your starting problems. Dump the old fuel into a gas 4 cycle engines's tank to get rid of. Another note: let the engine warm up for a minute or so before running at high speed. I have 2 cycle engines run for decades by doing what I just said. Good luck.

This blower beats all the other brands I have bought. It starts faster and the recoil starter is better made. The weight is definitely better than the previous one's. I highly recommend Husqvarna products...
