5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Trimmer, read review for details
I recently purchased this trimmer after extensive online research as well as questioning those I know with lawn care businesses.

Based on my research this is the best value near this price range for string trimmers.

I only need to show you this part number. 545001001 . Google it like this {545001001 cylinder}. this comes up as a poulan pro trimmer cylinder. I got this part number off of husqvarna's parts break down list for husqvarna 128l/LDX trimmer. The 128l/LDX trimmer is a 100.00 poulan pro trimmer wrapped in orange plastic instead of yellow. 1.0 out of 5 stars ITS A POULAN NOT HUSQVARNA, October 8, 2009
This review is from: Husqvarna 128C 28cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Smart Start Curved Shaft String Trimmer (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I didnt know husqvarna stickers cost over 100.00. This trimmer has one piston ring not two like a real husqvarna. It does however have the chrome cylinder lining.. this would be poulans {Durachrome} cylinder.

If you want a husqvarna thats a true husqvarna get the 223l. Thats really the lower end husqvarna {for now}.
the 128l/ldx trimmers do not have the black plate stating husqvarna made in sweden like true husqvarnas have. In fact I could not locate an origin sticker/plate anywhere on it? My search told me its built in U.S.A..
That tells me the poulan/weedeater plant here owned by husqvarna. If you want this trimmer buy it with the poulan name and save 100.00.

The poulan PP133 trimmer appears to look just like this model. {minor plastic changes}. the first several numbers on the cylinder match . the last few numbers are different. But the poulan pro model cylinder is sold as a kit form. Cylinder and ring set combined. Thus the number change. The pp133 is rated at 33cc not 28cc like this model. Any small engine mechanic will tell you not to look at cc ratings. look at hp. rating. Big box stores get to advertise higher cc ratings on small engines for sales tactics.

I'm not saying this is a bad trimmer. I bet its a real good home owner trimmer like advertised. I just think Husqvarna should put the correct name were it belongs and not mislead people. If I wasnt one of those people that researched everthing to death I'd not discovered this. I recomend researching anything over 100.00. Today it saved me 100.00 dollars. Hope I saved you money too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Trimmer, read review for details, June 24, 2009
This review is from: Husqvarna 128C 28cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Smart Start Curved Shaft String Trimmer (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I recently purchased this trimmer after extensive online research as well as questioning those I know with lawn care businesses.

Based on my research this is the best value near this price range for string trimmers.

The trimmer is slightly heavy, certainly seems closer to 15-18 pounds than 10 pounds. However the power and cutting ability significantly reduced my time trimming so the additional weight was not a problem.

The owners manual was lacking to illegible. Stringing it the first time was a challenge and took me nearly an hour to figure it out. Assembly is straight forward and simple as is starting and operating the trimmer.

It has more than adequate power for home use. I purchased the .095 "Husqvarna Titanium Force Premium Trimmer Line" and it beats everything in it's path to death. It will break at times on chain link fencing and landscaping bricks. It starts quickly and effortlessly, runs smooth and without vibration, is well balanced and a pleasure to operate.

Personally I am no fan of "bump head" trimmers but the line holds up very well so it isn't as irritating as with some other trimmers. This model has a clutch to engage the cutting head where your palm holds the shaft and once released the head stops spinning while the engine remains idling. I have adapted to releasing the clutch and manually pushing the bump head to release additional line as needed. This ensures I get the proper length and will prolong the life of the bump head assembly.

I cannot attest to the durability of this product as mine is quite new but based on my personal research it should hold up well. Additionally as with any good two cycle equipment I highly recommend you spend a few extra dollars for premium 2-cycle oil as opposed to using the cheap stuff.

1.0 out of 5 stars Error in Description, February 1, 2011
This review is from: Husqvarna 128C 28cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Smart Start Curved Shaft String Trimmer (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
There is a major error in the description of this trimmer. The Air Purge feature is not on this model 128C as stated in the description and shown in the close-up photo. After I could not find a purge valve, I spoke to Don at the Husqvarna Customer Desk at 1-800-487-5951 and he told me that the 128C does not have that feature. It is on the 128L model, but not this one. Also, the 128C is not shown in the Husqvarna trimmer line-up on their web site only the 128L and the 122C in the lightweight models. It appears that the 128C is no longer in production.
The fact that when you place a call to the Customer Service Desk you are directed to either Husqvarna, Poulan, or Weedeater products seems to verify a previous review that these products are related.
I am returning this trimmer because it is not as described.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth a dime, September 23, 2010
This review is from: Husqvarna 128C 28cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Smart Start Curved Shaft String Trimmer (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
Used it for about an hour total. The upper shaft broke, currently waiting for parts. I wish I'd stuck with a quality name like Stihl. Tried to save a couple bucks and got burned with a crap product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beats My Old Craftsman, April 23, 2010
This review is from: Husqvarna 128C 28cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Smart Start Curved Shaft String Trimmer (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I have only had mine a month but based on the overall quality I am very pleased. Like others I am not crazy about the bump head concept but I am happy with how this one performs. It starts up easily and has a much better sound than the tinny cheap Craftsman I had before. Another guy on here says its really a Poulan in a Husqvarna dress and he might be right but I have owned Poulan equipment in the past. They are usually cheap, light, and easy to see the poor quality. This unit is nothing like that. I am happy with it and will never buy another Craftsman tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great trimmer if you can find it, May 13, 2011

Trimmer is discontinued but can be found at a discount at many places. I paid $148 for this trimmer so there are great deals out there. Most attachments are universal so you can use the ones out there that exist. Most of the attachments like craftsman are made by poulan but some are not. The great thing is I end up using this thing a lot more then if it was just a trimmer.

This trimmer has lots of power and works well starts every time. One thing for sure this is not a poulan trimmer. Are they made in the same factory probably and do they use a lot of similar parts probably. The same could be said about a lot products just look at cars. There are some notable differences first the engine is not the same notice the 28cc doesn't exist for poulan. Second there is some more parts and things like housing and shaft are built with better material that makes this trimmer more substantial then a poulan. The poulan or craftsman/troybilt/ryobi trimmers are actually very good for the money. This product builds on that platform and that is why it costs more.
