This review is from: Husqvarna 7021F 21-inch 160cc Honda GCV Gas Powered Self-Propelled FWD Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio)
I got this mower last summer and have really liked it. It's far better than my old Wal-Mart special. I initially had an issue with the choke, but my local dealer was able to adjust it in about 15 min. All covered under warranty.
I'm not sure about the "requires allot of maintenance" a previous reviewer mentioned. The maintenance requirements are no different than any other mower I have owned. The difference here is the manual is very thorough in explaining how to perform the maintenance. Most of the maintenance is checking the oil, making sure nothing is broken or loose, etc. Things you should do any way. Other than that change the oil and air filter ever year, keep it clean, and the blade sharp and your all set. The Honda engine will need the valves adjusted from time to time (~200 hrs) but that is common to any OHV engine. You will probably need a trip to a mechanic for this unless you're fairly mechanically inclined. The mower is easy to setup and always starts with one or two pulls. I really like the rear bag. Unlike my old mower it is actually possible to completely fill the bag. I can mow allot more before I have to empty it. The deck is easy to adjust and provides a nice even cut. The adjustable self-propel is easy to use. No gears or fixed speeds. The more you squeeze the handle the faster it goes. It's that simple. The only thing I find disappointing is the self-propel gear box housing seems to be made out of some kind of heavy plastic. I would prefer metal like the Honda HRR/HRX mowers but those mowers are also more expensive. This is not to say I have had problems with the self-propel, it works fine, I just like traditional quality over high tech plastic. Other than that I find the build quality to be quite good. All in all I'm very happy.

Mower was delivered by UPS, had been dropped as right rear wheel was bent in. Metal so thin I was able to straighten by hand! Oil had ran out so air filter was plugged and mower would only run without air filter.......made trip to buy replacement and motor ran fine.
Just sold Husqvarna riding mower before moving to Florida and no comparison to workmanship with this 7021F model. Honda engine is o.k. but rest of unit is inferior even to some low-end box store models. W. Murdoch

I had bought this exact model from Sears just over 5 months ago for roughly the same price listed here. The lawn mower requires a lot of maintenance which I had performed on it regularly. One day when attempting to use the one pull start the cord got jammed and the plastic pull handle broke in two. A few weeks after that the engine starts making strange noises and constantly over heats. I took the lawnmower to a shop that is contracted by Husqvarna to fix warranty related issues such as poor craftsmanship. Turns out the company denied the claim and repairs would cost more than the thing is worth. I strongly recommend NOT purchasing this machine, it is poorly made, a HUGE hassle to maintain, and the manufacturer does not stand by their warranty.

I've had this Mower since 2009. Here is a list of things that I like about this mower:
1) Easy to start, smooth and quiet motor operation; 2) Has a manual choke for easy starts on really cold mornings; 3) Great, belt drive transmission is reliable (had a Honda and the transmission went out- way over-rated and way over-priced); 4) Large rear wheels and front drive are great advantages in my yard where the lower wheel mowers get stuck on slopes and in the occasional gopher hole or divot; 5) Very easy to maneuver around trees or to pull the mower back from a tree; 6) Great suction - pulls debris and leaves from the lawn. 7) Tune up is DIY easy with a spark plug and an air filter from the local big box store. What could be better? Here are a few things: 1) One lever to raise and lower the height would be nice; 2) A small amount of grass seems to accumulate around the rear port where the bag connects. 3) A hose-out attachment on the deck (although squirting water just in front of the right rear wheel while the blade is turning seems to do the trick). But, none of this is really a deal killer. Overall, I would recommend this mower. |
