My Husqvarna DRT900H tiller has performed very well.
Rick Newsome
Our soil is hard clay with lots of rocks and it chews through it very well.

Not what it's for, but it was easier than a pick and shovel.

I have owned several tillers in my life and this tiller beats them all by far, hands down. The Honda engine, although rather small (and I had my doubts about at first), runs flawlessly and has enough power to cut through small roots with no problems. This tiller is excellent for tilling up areas that have never been tilled before (ex: a grassy back yard). I have yet to kill this tiller during operation from tilling over something such as roots, rocks, etc.

So far, I have owned this tiller about 3 months, and I have tilled my garden (about 30x50 sq. ft.) four times now without running out of gas from the initial fill-up. The dual rotating tines (with reverse and forward options) make tilling a breeze in comparison to other tillers on the market. Each time I've used this machine, I have been able to operate it with only one hand while walking beside it (even in hard-packed soil). This tiller also has an adjustable handle (the main shaft) which makes it easier to till deeper in the ground when needed. The engine has started every time on the first pull and does not bog down even when engaging the self propelled wheels.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a tiller that they don't want to have to fix in a year or so. If I ever have to buy another tiller, it will definitely be a Husqvarna of this caliber.

This tiller rocks! I tilled my garden plot in under 30 minutes with no stress to my back, legs or arms. No fighting the machine, it just hummed along breaking up the area into nice powdery loam. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE. I tilled a 34 x 40 area of grass for my garden and got about a 5-6 in depth. It quite frankly turned the soil into butter. I would recommend 100% the honda motor, the gears aren't the smoothest but even as a 5'5 female was easily handled. The performance was great and not a gas hog. Engine starts without any difficulty. Excellent value for the money. I rented a beast of a tiller for my initial turn, had I known how well this performed, I wouldn't of needed to do that.

I have considered writing reviews about great products, but ended up not doing it out of laziness. But this machine is insane in a great way - it deserves a review. Love the Honda engine, don't let the 160 cc's fool you (it's really just 40-ish cc's smaller than other tillers of this price range, and is more effiecient.). This thing is a monster, be careful using front rotating tines- it will LAUNCH! (that's a compliment, I just didn't expect that power.) The rear-rotating tines dig the crud out of whatever they touch. They dig so well that a tall dude may need to lean over (the 6'4" guy should not be complaining, this rig still did all his work...I'm 6' even and I expected to work a slight bit. That dude's height yields benefits in other areas - like reaching things and basketball). Follow the included instructions for warming it up and shifting - if you tap the throttle a tad, shifting may be super easy if it seemed stuck before-hand. I got mine prassembled from a giant store with blue all over it for less than 720. - I'm considering it a steal. I got this tiller based on the unexpected price at the store and reviews (thanks to my wife I read them now - she was right, reviews are critical in decision making). I will now write reviews on all my purchases, based solely on my experience with my new Husqvarna tiller. It's got a sort of a retro styling thing going on, too, but that's just a bonus.

The one I received has a belt drive pulley on the gear box side which is so distorted it touches the housing when rotating. I know it is touching as it is burning hot on the outside of the pulley cover.

I was dubious of this model in the first place as the gear boxes are prone to failure my other Craftsman tiller is stuck in reverse.

Maybe I will use the pulley from the defunct Craftsman one.

Disappointing, go spend you money on something else.

Update 6-24 (how the problem was resolved)
At First I contacted the OEM who wanted me to take it to a dealer for repair. I was not happy with that solution so I called Amazon and they confirmed that it could not be returned and ended up refunding me. They would have sent another tiller out, but I felt that the next one would also be defective.

Amazon's handling of the situation was outstanding.

The tiller in principle is effective for the cost, the engine is very good, the gear box is clunky and the clutch (belt engagement level on the handle) requires a lot of effort. I would redesign that part so it has better leverage by moving the fulcrum. It would be very tempting to zip tie the lever down, but this could lead to an accident.

I have a small garden and needed a tiller that was easy to maneuver. I searched and found this tiller. I was excited to get it. There was some minor assembly and it took little effort to assemble the handles. The next day or two I filled it with gas and it started with two pulls. I warmed-up the engine for 10 minutes before tilling. The first pass went flawless. On the second pass, there was a loud sound and everything suddenly stopped. I couldn't get it to start again. I called Amazon who referred me to Husqvarna. I explained what happened and they told me there is nothing they could do over the phone. I will have to take it to the dealer to get it fixed. I called Amazon back and told them I wanted to return the tiller. They returned me my money. This may be a great tiller and I just got a lemon. However, Amazon's customer service was very good to deal with. This is why I rated this purchase a 3.
