Looked at and read reviews on many mowers before deciding on this mower from a local dealer. It has a heavy steel frame and an OHV Kohler motor that is stronger and larger than the Honda in this price range. The cast iron motor means less problems with overheating and damage compared to aluminum engines, and there are less moving parts. And the OHV engine is more fuel efficient and gas ain't cheap right now :-( Wheels have ball bearing which means they will last longer and have less wobble than the Craftsman we had. Consumer Report rated it very good for mulching, handling and ease of use.
(told ya I did my homework)

Some Sears stores carry the entry level Husq with the smaller engine but you can check it out for yourself. If you have a large yard or heavy southern grass, then you would want this engine size.

Update 6/1/2011. Wanted to let others know of a possible issue, and that is the collecting of grass in the drive unit due to the lack of protection for the drive belt system. My old Craftsman sealed the belt and drive system but this one does not and it quickly gathers grass in the belt and drive and needs to be disassembled with a #8 metric nut driver and cleaned out thoroughly.

Purchased this Husqvarna XT722FE mower thru AMAZON in April 11. Easy to assemble but noticed a rather flimsy plug connection and electic wiring( the fuse hangs between the handle uorights and connection to starter is two basic wires hanging out above the deck) After second use, the mower would not start as battery did not appear to have charged....thought it was a bad battery. However my techie side got out the old multimeter and found out that the charger had ceased to work. Called warranty service and first question was "who was the distributor that you bought the lawnmower from" when I replied "AMAZON" the CS lady on the other end said " oh, that's a problem". Told me I had to make an appointment at a service center and take in the mower and the charger (yes the entire thing)---called for an appointment and the earliest they could see me was July 11 and it would have to go thru their "troubleshooting--approx 1 week"---called customer service back but they would not send out a new charger. So it looks like $30 if I want to order a replacement charger and get back in business otherwise borrow a mower. Husqvarna warrranty and customer service is a joke --- don't buy with any anticipation of "service" after you open the carton.

I poured in the oil and gas, charged up the battery, and turned the key once. It started up instantly, and has done so every time since. The steel construction inspires confidence. I subtracted a star because the mower arrived with a faulty rear wheel, and the manual is really pretty awful.

I purchased this mower for my husband because he thought Husqvarna would be a good brand. We wanted the electric start and self-propelled. The first mowing of our small yard was great, he loved the mower. The second time out, a week later, while mowing an ordinary yard, the right front wheel broke off. I called the number on the website to see about getting another wheel and was told I would have to take it to a dealer. I did not buy it from a dealer, I purchased it from Amazon.com so I asked for a wheel to be shipped to me. I was told that Order Tree is only a parts distributor and could do nothing for me. The brain surgeon I talked to on the telephone just kept insisting that I take the mower to a dealer because they would have to see the broken wheel. My husband travels, so now I have to find someone to load the mower into my car so I can take it to a dealer for a replacement wheel. This is not a good start of our relationship with Husqvarna!!

About 6 months ago I felt the need to replace my 5 year old Craftsman and really wanted an electric start. Checked a number of mowers both on-line and in person. I was very familiar with Husqvarna from my days of racing motorcycles and held them in high regard. There US facility is almost in my back yard in Huntersville, NC so I THOUGHT any service issues would be easy to resolve - I could drive there if necessary!

Ordered through Amazon - prompt delivery and the mower started with the first pull of the starter rope (you must charge the battery prior to use the electric starter). Mower (like so many other front wheel drive mowers) does not want to track straight but it did a good job cutting. All was well the first use; next time, however, the drive belt would not release completely causing the front wheels to drag instead of roll when you try to back up as in a tight space.

Removed the cover (easy enough) and the area was packed with grass clippings. It appeared that a baffle should be in place (there were unused holes in the frame) but was missing. Placed a call to Husqvarna and got my first really big disappointment. Trying to get to speak to a human was a challenge; after about a dozen attemps I finally got someone to answer - the lady knew absolutely nothing about lawn mowers but tried to tell me what I "needed" to do. I insisted on talking with someone else. Finally a man who seemed to know what he was doing. Said if I would take it to a local dealer, they would send the dealer the baffle.

Told him I could install it so send it to me - no dice. Local dealer was nice, especially considering they did not sell me the mower, but said a 3 to 4 week wait for "service". Lawn needed mowing then, not in weeks.
