5.0 out of 5 stars T DOT!!!!
As a Canadian livin' in Europe at the time, it's hard to keep up w/ canadian hip-hop here (of course the Snoops and DMXs are dope as well, but it's not the same!). That's why it's off the hook 2 see Kardinal doin' his thing and representin' the T DOT! Peace 2 everybody who agrees!

3.0 out of 5 stars Who cares where quality comes from?
I live in Florida and i was comletely naive of Canadian hip hop... Not that i'm bragging... swollen members and Kardinal Offishall have hella talent and resemble a Tribe Called Quest in relevance from ten years ago. True hip hop fans need to embrace the gifted and worry less about location and image, and we'll see who we're still talking about ten years from now...

5.0 out of 5 stars Yankee Haters, May 12, 2001
This review is from: Husslin (Audio CD)
Isn't it funny how when Dr Dre represents cali with Tupac he's not 'hating', and when Wu Tang represents NYC they aren't hating, yet when a nigga from T-Dot comes down representing himself to the fullest that's 'hating' all of a sudden. The problem with Americans is that ya'll dish out what you can't take. Kardinal is off the hook! No doubt, and he's just representing T-Dot, same as Snoop is representing Long Beach and Cash Money is representing the dirty south. Deal with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars And Everybody knows it's the T-DOT !! .... Selecta Rewind!, May 30, 2001
This review is from: Husslin (Audio CD)
I had a feeling that as soon as Americans got wind of Kardinal's wicked lyrics they would get the meaning totally WRONG and guess what...THEY DID! Big Surprise Eh?

What he's doing (on Bakardi Slang) is merely pointing out that Toronto black cultures' largely West Indian background and it's unique language and slang is different than that of other cities. Many young ethnic people (not just black) in this city are first or second generation Canadians, and therefore have grown up with an equal dose of their parents culture from "Back Home", Canadian identity, and American ideals through the media, especially television and all that that brings with it.

He wasnt "dissing" Americans any more than they diss themselves - through the materialistic, "bling-bling", Ive-got-money-...-ice-and-you-have-nothing attitude PREVALENT in garbage hip-hop today.

It was merely a language lesson, so sit up, get out your notebooks, and pay attention class ....

Awsome CD. HUSSLIN' is a great song that you should have heard by now. Kardi is THE SOURCE's favorite unsigned rapper, and he represents Toronto and Canada. Also there is AND WHAT! that is awsome. Also a funny song called U R GHETTO WHEN. Comments are nothing compared to listening though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Opinions, May 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Husslin (Audio CD)
I was told by a friend... He felt that the words in the song blasts "American" rap talkin about it is nothin compared to how they do it in Toronto...or wherever this "star" is from...he believes that although he is doin his own thing, he is flaw with the amount of respect he gives to his fellow rappers...I didnt agree until he gave me an example...what he told me changed my view a little...but i believe in my opinion that all artist diss at one point or other and that sells...and for a rapper in "T-Dot" to come out blastin like he did I am sure the people of toronto loved it...but I mean with all do respect...I see where my friend is comin from...

4.0 out of 5 stars He's rep'n T-town, but..., May 2, 2001

All I have to say is: The man got mad skills but he sound like he's hate'n a little. I mean: we do this in Toronto and Yall do this and Yall can't do it like us. The man is starting to get mad play in the US but he can't come out with a single like that in the states and think no one will pick up on what he is saying. He wouldn't last in a Lyrical face-off with the majority of US rappers! Yall may think I'm hate'n but I just listen'd to the single in a different way!
