Keanthony - A Hustlaz Story,
By ------------- "------------" (The World) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Hustlaz Story (Audio CD)
This album really surprised me. I remember hearing the Underdogs produced ballad about losing that speacial someone "I Ain't Tryna", earlier in 08, and then i didnt hear anything from him for months. And then out of nowhere he released this album and i decided to give it a shot because alot of the album was produced by The Underdogs. Well it turns out that this mite be the hidden gem of 08, because absolutely no one knows who Keanthony is, but the dude can sing, and he is really soulful. He almost reminds me of a Gerald Levert...kinda. But the cool thing about this album is its diversity. Its not like all the other R&B albums coming out right now where all the music is about pretty much Sex and Partying. While you get your fair share of sex with this album, you also get the classic love song in "Thats What I'll Be", The breakup song in "I Ain't Tryna", the slow jam in "My Song", the ghetto come up song in "Hustlaz Story", of course the baby maker in "Call Me", a song for the homies in "Forever My Homie" and "I Thought", and you even get a smoking song in "Everytime I'm High" lol. So Keanthony definetly can cover a pretty broad range of topics, and its cool because he makes it believable to, he never comes off fake. There is only one song on the album that could possibly be considered a club track and that is "Down Girl" and even that song is great. But if i had to pick a favorite track, i would probably have to go with either the super sexy slow jam track "My Song" where he really uses his powerful voice, or the classic love song "Thats What I'll Be" because the production on that track from the Underdogs is phenominal. It almost reminds me of Marques Houston's "Sex Wit You". Overall this album was a big surprise for me, and its a very strong debut from a very soulful R&B singer who truly doesnt get the credit he deserves.

I love his music... He is 'mo like Tank.. Hes speaking from his experinces and I can respect that... But if you're looking for a promising debut from an artist whose passion is in music and not image, then you'll be pleased with "KeAnthony"... All I can say is, give the cd a try, you won't be disapointed...
