A Good collection of songs...,
By Enlightened "Both Eyes Closed, see what u don... (Atlanta Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hustle & Flow (Audio CD)
The Hustle & Flow soundtrack is a Grand Hustle Presentation. If you are unfamiliar with Grand Hustle, maybe you are more familiar with popular rapper T.I. AKA The King Of The South. And you know just from hearing that name, that the soundtrack would at least have some value to it because T.I. doesn't put out wack products. All the players show up for the soundtrack including T.I., P$C, Eightball & MJG, Al Kapone, Lil Boosie & Webbie, Trina, E-40, Boyz N Da Hood, Mike Jones & Trillville. Terrence Howard, the actor ( the one who's eyeballs fell out his head and jaw dropped to the floor, tongue waggin, drooling at the BET Awards when he was the lucky man of the night receiving treatment from BEYONCE), drops a few songs from the album and they are surprisingly pretty tight and he does a good job considering he's not a real rapper (the songs weren't written by him they are just rapped). There are more than a couple of good songs on this compilation including but not limited to
T.I. - I'm A King, Eightball & MJG - Tell Me Why, DJAY (Terrence Howard) - Whoop That Trick, Boyz N Da Hood - Carbon 15's, Webbie - Bad B!tch Young City AKA Chopper from the Band - Lil Daddy, and P$C - Murder Game The soundtrack is very upbeat and riding for sure. This album is straight up beats and rhymes not made for listening to at low volumes on some computer speakers. This is loud, unabashed, crunk music. Hate it or love it...but chances are if you love it then this cd will be right up your alley. 4 stars.

Another urban hit soundtrack for the summer,
By Derrick Dunn "The Realest DJ" (Woodbridge,VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hustle & Flow (Audio CD)
Hustle and Flow has been gaining a lot of buzz since it won the audience award at Sundance this year. The movie has been on the top of must see list for a long time and the soundtrack is surprisingly good. Originally Ludacris's DTP label was supposed to distribute the soundtrack, and when I heard this I was looking forward to hearing the club banger Georgia which feat. Ludacris & Field. But with . T.I., Juvenile, 8 Ball and MJG, E-40, Trillville, Boyz N da Hood, Mike Jones, and several others make this a timely and fitting companion to the film. More importantly, in keeping the connection between film and soundtrack as tight as possible, a couple tracks performed by actor Terrence Howard, as Hustle and Flow protagonist DJay, a pimp turned MC are included, along with a handful of dialogue bits. Al Kapone, a Memphis-based rapper asked by director Craig Brewer to write DJay's rhymes, also appears, only adding to the authenticity. While the soundtrack complements the film, a few of the tracks provided by rookies such as Young City outshine the big guns for the top-level tracks. While there isn't a track as strong as the lead single by T.I. the tracks are more memorable than the average cuts granted to a soundtrack.

One of the summer's best,

Hustle and Flow is one of the best movies i've seen so far, and i would even have to say that it topped 8 mile in a inspirational rap movie. the soundtrack has nothing but high caliber rap artists, that give the movie its due in its prolific line up of songs. with almost everyone from the south gave their shout outs to this album so it more than just a movie soundtrack, its one of the best south albums out there...if you ever have a decision to buy? quit thinking, and start buying...you'll enjoy it from the moment it hits your speakers to the time you'll press eject, believe me...

For anyone who's had to struggle to get of something in their life will enjoy both the music and the movie.
And unlike some people from a previous review" William Jones "Pianoman" There was only one Pimp in the movie every other black person had a job, apart from those outside of DJay's little household so don't go projecting your views on the entire black race one person's role. Being a Pimp, Stripper, Deliveryman or a Sound Technician does not make you ignorant. And if you believe one person can represent an entire race of people than you are ignorant. Don't be swayed by bitter self-righteous people who believe that if your not doing the same thing as them your ignorant. See the movie and listen to the music yourself, then judge whether the character offends you or not. As for me I love the music love the movie and I'm going to see it again.

Hustle & Flow,

I'm very impressed with this one. I'm not usually one to pick up movie soundtracks, but after seeing the movie and hearing a few tracks around here and there, I decided to pick this up. Good decision. This album is full of bangers, from start to finish. Very few CD's today can just ride without hitting the skip button but this is one of the few that can. There's seriously not one song on this CD that I didn't like from the very first time I heard it. It's hard to pick out a favorite, but if I had to choose one, I would say the best song on the album is Murder Game. Fresh tight beats, tight lyrics, just an overall great produced album. I would recommend this to anyone, whether you just wanna bump it in the house, a party, or ride to it, it would be perfect for any of them. *5 Stars*

The best Rappers are actors?,

I just got back from the movie and I'm listening to the soundtrack as I write this. I have to say, for once sombody got it right. The film was well done and though I really dont listen to crunk or any rap from the south, I'm feeling the music. Especially Terrence Howard's tracks, who knew?
As for the previous statements: " THIS MOVIE IS STRAIGHT IGNORANT!!!" by William Jones "Pianoman" "He was prostituting women, selling drugs, shot someone, went to jail, only to presented at the end as being sucessful as a reward for his hard-work. Any denerate can write about being a criminal, but it takes a true genius to be keep it real, keep it positive and keep it creative." If you're gonna insult somebody's intelligence, you should spell-check and keep track of missing words from your review first. I guess pimps, prostitues, drug dealers and filmmakers arent the only ignorant people on Earth.

Hustle & Flow Soundtrack,
This review is from: Hustle & Flow (Audio CD)
The soundtrack to "Hustle & Flow" (2005) accompanied the movie very well and is a solid release. P$C does not disappoint on the albums opener "I'm A King" (Remix). The Oscar winner "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" written by Three Six Mafia and performed by Terrence Howard (AKA DJAY) is a great track. I was really happy to see a Rap group win that award. Next up Eightball & MJG deliver the smooth "Tell Me Why". DJay's "Whoop that Trick" is a banging fight cut, the kind you blast in the ride, or listen to before hitting the gym. Boyz N Da Hood provides another good track with "Carbon 15's, A.K.'s & Mac 11's". A number of average tracks follow then Terrence Howard impresses again on the albums title track "Hustle And Flow" (It Ain't Over). I can't say I am much of a Mike Jones fan, but "Still Tippin" is definitely one of his better tracks and the (It's A Man's World Remix) works. P$C provides a hardcore banger with the grimy "Murder Game". The man behind the rhymes Al Kapone adds his own musical contribution with the stellar "Get Crunk Get Buck". Terrence Howard closes the album off with a skit in "Man Ain't Like A Dog". I hope Terrence Howard gets the credit he deserves in the years to come, good acting, impressive rhyming from an actor, two thumbs up for the "Hustle & Flow" Soundtrack.

I don't know what to say other than I love this soundtrack been listening to it non-stop for the past few days and I just can't get enough of it, my favorite song's are as follows (it's kinda hard to pick fav's since the cd is sooo darn good that almost all of them are loved by me but the song's I listen to most are):
1. I'm A King (Remix) - PSC 2. Swerve - Webbie 4. It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp - Djay 7. Whoop That Trick - Djay 10. Carbon 15's, A.K.'s & Mac 11's - Boyz N Da Hood 11. Lil' Daddy - Young City 12. Let's Get A Room - Nasty Nardo 13. Booty Language - Juvenile 14. Bad B**ch Remix - Webbie 17. Still Tippin' (It's A Man's World Remix) - Mike Jones I feel that, "It's hard out here for a pimp" is a very good song but being only 2:38 long is a lil too short for my blood I wish they would have made the song longer but other than that MOST DEFINATELY 5 stars well worth any ammount of money any store offers (but if you can get it cheap then don't hesitate HEHE)..

I picked this song for the Oscar :->,

This review is from: Hustle & Flow (Audio CD)
This is a great soundtrack (better than the movie to me), and I was hoping that It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp would get the Oscar it was nominated for and it did. I'm glad for Three 6 Mafia that it did - it's a fantastic, tight song. The rest of the cd is good too, but there is no other standout song like that. I do like Whoop That Trick. Even though this music is a little heavier than I usually listen to, I still find it great and powerful and a fantastic cd to blast in the car.

Staying true to the south,
This review is from: Hustle & Flow (Audio CD)
Overall the soundtrack is on the money. Since I live right down the road from Memphis I think they did a great job by getting local talent on the soundtrack such as Al Kapone and Yo Gotti. These names ring through the south but they put them on the national stage. The director Criag Brewer grew up in Memphis and he done the right thing by coming back home. This movie was as much about his struggle as it was anybodys. He also incorporated a lot of in state talent. Actor DJ Qualls is from Nashville, Issac Hayes helped make Memphis, Rapper I-20 also makes a cameo, he's a Memphis native. I know that I dont have to say anything about Juciy J and DJ Paul, they make cameos and its fitting becuse when 8 Ball& MJG put Memphis on the map, they took the ball and and ran with it. They put Memphis on their backs and turned it into a giant in the south. So for all the haters, u dont know nothing bout the game, I still use the 808 drum beats, the casio keyboard, and I work in a factory, they guy that flows over my beats he works in a nursing home, so this story is true to the game. You get it anyway you can, and life has always been about that Hustle and Flow to us country boys here.
But Pianoman I have to give you props on saying somthing about Bossman. I had never heard of him before I read your comments, and while I dont agree with your comments about the soundtrack, Off the Record is a track the everybody needs to go out and listen to, if you cant feel that track then you dont know what rap needs to become. |
