4.0 out of 5 stars You can always trust your mother???, March 25, 2006
This review is from: A Hustler's Son (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Janet Stayley and her son, Kelsi, almost had the perfect "mother-son" relationship. Their love, commitment and bond for each other was strong - but not without complications.

There was anything that Janet wouldn't do to shield Kelsi from the seduction on the streets but when she found out her baby boy was already in the arms of the street hustle she decides it's time to enhance her son's awareness for street survival.

Kelsi loves, adores and trusts his mom, which ultimately gives her full access to his life (personal female affairs included).

Murdering a fellow high school students spiels Kelsi into a whole new aura of life. Moms is there to ease the burden. In her effects to tighten her son's streets skills she reveals some of her past "history" to Kelsi.

Janet was the recipient of an abusive home at the hands of her father and four brothers. Her own mother was too weak to defend Janet from their heinous acts against her, thus forcing Janet to run away at the young age if 13.

In her street survival, Janet, gets caught up with the lowest of snakes, depriving herself of any dignity & self-respect; just to survive life as a human being. Her only joy/hope/consolation of the street life was the birth of her son (against the wishes of his father).

Kelsi is devastated to learn of his mother's dark past, but he listens and learns fast... and so the life of mother-son hustle duo is born.

Unfortunately, Janet has spun a fatal web for herself and her son; she has revived a pit of snakes from her past and Keshi seems to be set on self-destruction.

All Janet ever wanted was love and she found it in there in her son, but then it was too late... It seems she has signed a promise note of death for both her and Kelsi.

The book was a fast, easy read and served with suspense. The storyline is different but believable. I enjoyed this book.

When I began this book, I had no idea what it would be about.

The book begins with the life of Kelsi and his mother Janet. The two of them are as thick as theives. Kelsi has started living a lifestyle that has him out of control. To try to bring more money inot the house and take Kelsi out of the streets, Janet takes on a second job. It seems as though life is going good for them.

Janet is back with the man she loves, Delonte, and Kelsi is dating Keisha. Kelsi's relationship with Keisha is going pretty good until her ex-boyfriend surfaces and is not happy with Keisha not wanting him. After being confronted by Keisha's ex, Kelsi must make some adult decisions.

After experiencing things a 15 year old shouldn't, Kelsi goes to his mother for guidance.

Will Kelsi's mother provide with the direction he needs, or will she put him on the path of destruction.

This is a must read for anyone looking for a fast paced, non stop drama.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mom and Son Team, May 4, 2006

This was a good story about a mother Janet who has a sordid pass, one which includes two felons to her credit. Currently she is working two jobs so that her son does not fall prey to the streets.
Kelsi her son has a strong bond with his mother but cannot stand her live-in boyfriend Delonte, alas, Kelsi commits his first murder at age 15, mother and son are very close so he tells her and she schools him on the rules of the street. She also tells him about her abusive childhood and her hustlin' days. Mother and son then teams up to commit a murder that will have a big pay off!

I liked the concept of the story...a mother and son murder team. But I would have liked to see them commit more crimes together before the story concluded. Lots of backbiting and secrets with good character development.
A quick read which I enjoyed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love your Work but when is the Sequel coming, March 21, 2007
This review is from: A Hustler's Son (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I think she wrote a great book, however it was all over the place. I love the story of a mother doing WHATEVER she had to for her son. Whis is not uncommon in the real world. Mothers usually do try to do what they have to to protect their own, which no doubt she did. I am interested to see what will happen to Kelsi and he journeys to New York maybe even go back a bit in the sequel to give us more insight of what happened.

4.0 out of 5 stars Young Thugs, February 15, 2007
This review is from: A Hustler's Son (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I think T. Styles really got a lot attention with this one, Alot of authors write about old hustlers, not too many about the young ones. The story was about Janet who worked to jobs to take care of her son so he would not have to hustler, but he did any way thinking he'd make money so she would'nt have to work. Well her son Kelsi was raw I liked his style he do any and everything for his mother and I do mean it all. The end shocked me but the love he had for his moms was so real, I wonder did Janet think her pass would come back so strong. I enjoyed reading this book and I think you will too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book I read in months!!!, April 12, 2006
This review is from: A Hustler's Son (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I couldn't put this book down. The story was real, but with a new twist. I've never heard of a mother and son on some whole new stuff. I love a story that pulls me into to it so much that I get mad when it's over. Kelsi reminded me of a lot of dudes I grew up with, including me. I hope there is a part 2 coming, because I need my man to get revenge.
