`We've been spending most our lives living in a gangster's paradise...', November 5, 2010
This review is from: Hustlin' Divas (Paperback)
De'Nesha Diamond has penned a volatile banger in Hustlin' Divas and its sheisty characters. Orphans LeShelle and TaShara are tossed into foster homes and LeShelle bears sexual abuse in order to protect her baby sister, TaShara, and loses her youth in a group home after selflessly assuming this role. Life has stolen LeShelle's innocence and unable to accept the new foster parents kindness, LeShelle does the unforgiveable and finds herself on the cold streets alone and shunned by TaShara. A disheartened, misunderstood and abused LeShelle struggles in the streets until she finds her niche in the Gangster Disciples and soon lands the HBIC as she becomes wifey to the vile and sadistic Python, the leader of the set. Melanie is a police officer that works hard for her stripes being that her father is a captain in the department and she wants recognition for her very own accomplishments. Momma Peaches is an old gangsta that has seen it all and has recently been released from prison. TaShara Leigh Murphy has found hope with her foster parents, Reggie and Tracee Douglas, a middle class couple that only want the best for her. TaShara has followed the game plan until she caught the eye of Profit, brother of Fat Ace, the Vice Lords HNIC. Although Profit and TaShara are not in any gang, their siblings' positions place them in an explosive position...the choice between love and family.
Hustlin' Divas is filled to the brim with corrupt, immoral, and depraved characters that will astound you to no end with their cold, callous cruelty. Explicit sexually depicted scenes, murder, cunning, manipulation, deceit, death, treachery, and secrets galore adorn this novel and make it one of the most `gangsta' reads I've ever encountered. Despite back door bandits, Stella getting her groove back, backstabbers, and gun toting, blunt smoking gangstas, Mz. Diamond blessed us with a refreshing tale of young love and the vices that they must overcome just to be together. The tale read so true to life, with the emotionless actions of so many of the characters, I had a hard time deciphering and acknowledging that this was penned by someone of the female gender. I could tangibly hear a masculine voice throughout this joint, so I give Mz. Diamond major kudo's for conquering the division in her writing style and transcending above a female moniker. The ending was so awesome, I had no thought that she left the reader with a cliffhanger. She pulled a mind-boggling Houdini move within the last 7 pages and the teaser of the continuation...all I can say is STUNNING!!! Mos Def my sista! STUNNING!! 4.48****

Not a Romance Novel But Still Worth Reading~~, November 10, 2010
Ms. Diamond did not disappoint in her first solo street lit effort. We are introduced to the Memphis ganglife through natives Ta'Shara, LeShelle, Yolanda and Melanie.
Sisters Ta'Shara and LeShelle are at constant odds with each other because of Ta'Shara's position as the leader of the Queen G's. Ta'Shara is constantly trying to prove to her man Python that she is a ride or die chick. LeShelle wants no part of the ganglife and is happy for the escape she is provided by her adoptive parents in their suburban home and her man Profit. Yolanda is looking for a big upgrade and is willing to do ANYTHING to gain wifey status with one of the gang's top leaders. Finally, Melanie, a police detective whose intimate ties to Python(Leader of the Gangsta Disciples) may compromise her position on the police force or will her secrets cost her everything?!
Ms. Diamond weaves a dangerous tale as these four ladies fight for their men and their lives.
Fans of urban literature will not be disappointed.
Definitely worth picking up.

Great Book!, February 28, 2011
This review is from: Hustlin' Divas (Paperback)
I absolutely loved this book. I can't wait until the next book comes out. Came across this author by searching or someone else but I am totally glad that I did. I love the characters in the book because it gives me a look inside a lifestyle that I don't live. Can't wait to see what Ta'Shara, LeShelle and Python has in store for us. Keep up with the great stories, you have made me a loyal follower of your work.
