I've logged over 14,000 miles using Hutchinson Intensives on three different bikes. I'm 150lbs and inflate the tires to 100psi; 700x23 on front and back. The rear tire generally lasts about 2,000 miles; the front considerably longer. The only issue I had was the first set deteriorating from the chemicals used on the roads in the winter. Once I started to wipe the tires down with a wet towel after my winter rides, that problem was resolved. The replacement set lasted 2,000 miles as expected. I haven't had a single flat with these tires. Most of the riding has been in the Colorado Springs area, although they also survived three trips to Tucson, AZ, with no flats (roughly 300 miles ridden per trip). I don't bother avoiding debris on the road and I even go off-road at times. The gravel and glass on some of my rides can get pretty bad, but still haven't flatted on these tires.

These are comparable to Continental 4 Seasons at roughly half the price, about as light a tire as you're going to find with a Kevlar belt. I have no complaints about the ride quality or handling, even with some pretty aggressive descents on the back side of the front range. If you're going to run clinchers in a race, I would recommend these over some super-light, fancy race tires... you can't win if you flat!

I suspect James Battle (1-star review: "didn't stay on the rim, February 1, 2013") got a pinch flat from not mounting the tire correctly. I haven't had any issues with the Hutchinson's popping off the rim.

Don't sweat the decision... these tires are awesome!

I am not a racer but I do average about 5,000 miles a year.

So far I only have 250 miles on them so I'll do a repost here at wear out, but I wanted to review these a bit early so people have a better idea about them. First off I got the 700x25c Intensive Hardskin Long Distance clincher. The first thing I noticed when I installed them and aired them up is that they are the same width as all my 700x23C tires, they're are noticeably narrower than my 700x25c tires, so I measured them with a set of calipers to make sure and they measured out to 23.9 cm, which makes me wonder just how narrow their 700x23 Intensive tire is...perhaps closer to 700x20? Maybe someone can measure theirs and report back here. Yes, I did check the size on the tire to make sure it wasn't packaged wrong.

Other then that size difference they do roll nicely, they have great traction even on wet pavement and handle excellently but again I'm not racing nor coming down fast mountain descents so I haven't been able to push their limits; and so far they have had no flats or cuts. I've had no problems with the tires popping off of my Shimano RS500 wheels as one reviewer noted he had issues with. Not sure how long they'll last because as I mentioned earlier I only have 250 miles on them, but generally I get about 3,500 miles on a set of rear tires, and more on the front but I rotate so I put the new tire on the front and the front goes to the rear.

You can get these tires on steep discount pricing in August but I got mine on Black Friday the day before Thanksgiving for just $32, you can also get good deals in January and February too but the selection is more limited due to stuff getting bought out on August and on Black Friday.

I got these for my commuter, and after 1500 miles without a single flat decided to try them on my training bike, too. Good rolling resistance. Not a race tire, but you won't have to replace them often, either, so keep your racing slicks in the shop until race day and sport a set of these on your training rides, you won't mind not having to stop for flats.

I've tried a few different kevlar tires for my daily commute in NYC. Once I found the Hutchinson Intensive tire, the need to explore other tires had been retired.

I generally get about 1000-2000 miles out of each tire, usually without a single flat. Actually, I've only had one puncture flat with this tire (it was a shoe nail, which was driven straight in at a high speed).

I ride thru the high desert roads of Antelope Valley. Anyone who has, knows the conditions your tyres will face. Over 1,000 miles and still counting. Two pinch flats due to crashes. Two puncture flats due to 3inch metal pin and a goathead the size of a marble. Smooth and tough!

I've been a long time user of MIchelin's Krylion Carbon tires. They were unavailable when I needed new tires, and actually I was looking to try road tubeless, but I got these instead. So far I like them just fine. I haven't needed to rotate them front to back yet after about 1000 miles, the rear tire is wearing well. They have plenty of grip for me as a casual/recreational/fast rider, and I love riding in 700 x 25C tires; I like the extra cushion. I haven't had any flats with them yet, so they seem to be living up to their high mileage puncture resistant reputation. Easy enough to mount on my Rol d' Huez wheels, I will try the tubeless version when these wear out. Give them a try if you are looking for a long lasting tire for road riding and training.
