Keeps herbs and asparagus fresh for days.

COuldn't get it to fit in the holes in the container bottom, and couldn't get the top on without mashing the leaves.

Just have to be careful not to knock it over or shake it in the fridge or the water can drip out.

I always put my cilantro and parsley in a jar with water and cover with plastic. I bought one of this to try. Shipping was fast and no damage to the container. I tried it first with parsley. It did keep the parsley fresh but it was hard to fit a regular bunch into it. I had to split it and put the rest into a jar so am now using double space in my fridge. It turns out the old way worked as good as the saver with preserving but since I could fit a lot more in the jar I'm back to my old way. I will just use this saver for other herbs not as bulky as parsley or cilantro.

Ohh,I love this product!!I bought more than 20 for all my friends as a little 'extra' for the holidays. It has already saved me time and money.....I use two for the multiple fresh herbs that i use routinely. Just follow the instructions, snip off the amount you need for each recipe....the rest stays fresh and flavorful for your next creation.
No more waste. no more mess in the veggie drawer, no more half dried out bunches...this is such a treat for all cooks!!

I was skeptical about this product, but for the price was willing to give it a try. It's proven to be remarkable and a great value. Herbs stay fresh for weeks.

I am a bit of a contradiction - I love cooking, I cook very well, and I own darn near every gadget & small appliance you can imagine to facilitate my cooking.

By the same token, until very recently, I had absolutely ZERO idea how to keep bunches of fresh herbs from going bad before I could use them up. It got so I was buying a bunch of cilantro, parsley and assorted other herbs nearly weekly, and tossing them within a couple of days because they'd turn slimy and awful.

Then by some stroke of luck, I found these here on Amazon. I thought, "well, given how much money I'm wasting every week, it really can't hurt to at least give these a shot... what have I got to lose at this point?"

Wow, what a difference a few dollars makes!

I can keep my herbs fresh for 2+ weeks in these, and this is despite the fact that I can guarantee I never get my bunches in them perfectly. It doesn't really seem to matter if my stems are sort of haphazardly sticking in all sorts of directions... as long as most of them make it through the holes into the water, the bunch stays fresh and the herbs keep long enough for me to actually use them up.

A few tips for usage:
1) Make sure your water level is below the holes in the base.
2) I don't recommend snipping leaves off the bunch... that seems to lead to quicker spoilage of the rest of the bunch. Gently tugging out the stems you need seems to work much better towards keeping the bunch fresh.
3) Getting a large bunch inside the clear top can be challenging... the easiest way I've found to do this is to invert the clear top between my knees (while sitting) and wrap my hands firmly around the top of the bunch which is turned so the stems are facing up.

So far I've been very pleased with this herb saver. I decided to buy this type of product when I noticed I was only getting one serving out of my purchased herbs before they would wilt and go bad. I shopped around, saw various versions and even some DIY ideas. As far as the alternatives, this one was the cheapest manufactured version I could find. I did try the DIY ideas first but found removing stored herbs problematic. Also, herbs would fall over if stored in a jar, and getting the leaves wet contributed to their wilting.

This herb saver resolved all those issues. There is the cup for water storage at the bottom. There is a little saucer with cutouts for the stems to help keep the herb stems upright so the leaves stay out of the water. And that fact that the top comes off makes removing the herb easy.

I've used the saver once to store basil. The basil was stored for about 1-1.5 weeks. I've included pictures. So far, I've not had any issues, only success.

HTH!

I think my big cilantro bunch lasted 4 weeks in this thing in the refrigerator...
Good idea and good execution.

Follow the instructions....just a little water and don't let the leaves touch the water
Packaging was not adequate because mine arrived with a crack in the clear plastic cover.
I didn't bother to return it and so far it has worked fine.

A bunch of cilantro is a too big to fit through the ring that helps support the herbs and the stems tend to get slimy sitting in the water at the bottom. Cool idea, but it just doesn't execute that well.

Note how the expensive herbs are stored in that small plastic box: free of excess, slime-causing liquid water droplets. If you buy them in the box, you will of course continue to use the box to store remaining herbs.

For better value, buy bulk herbs and store like this: take the tie off a bunch of herbs. Ensure that the herbs are fairly free of liquid water (shake and pat dry with paper towel, if needed). Pick out any herbs that are starting to slime. Wrap the good herbs loosely in a paper towel and store in the plastic bag you took them home in. DON'T wrap too tightly and DON'T let other items in the refrigerator sit on and press down on the package. When you use some herbs (or every 4 to 6 days), pick out any slimers and rewrap the remainder in a fresh paper towel before returning to the refrigerator.

Fresh herbs will easily keep a week or two this way. I do this all the time, I can't remember the last time I used the Herb Saver.
