Maybe mine is defective. ?
This cookie press also makes pasta (that's what the company says; I haven't tried it yet). The disk for pasta looks like it makes a thick spaghetti noodle.
There are also "disks" for frosting and whipped cream (for making decorator shapes and also filling food items like eclairs and doughnuts), but I haven't tried this function.
The problem with my old cookie presses:
My old electric cookie press wouldn't release cookies unless you forced out too much dough, so the cookies were huge and misshaped. Works, but the idea of a cookie press is to make cookies with cute, identifiable holiday shapes.
The expensive one I bought at one of those kitchen home parties worked for one year, and then stopped. The clear plastic tube (filled with dough) popped off every time I tried to make a cookie. Useless.
I bought this one years ago, and I loved it; It was the replacement for the one that was my grams. After the handle on that one broke, I think it lasted about 8 X-mas seasons, I tried a couple different versions. We had a swiss brand that was in a nice box that we picked up at Marshall’s, it stunk. The we tried a Wilton one that I got from Joann Fabrics, that one has a trigger and while it worked better than the swiss one, it was not as good as the Hutzler and the trigger that you use to get the press part to work was tiring. When I saw I could get the Hutzler on Amazon I went for it. I stuck with this white one instead of the red that is available (even though this one was more money) because I didn't want to take chances.
Only used it for one Christmas so far, but I’m happy with it. Hopefully it lasts for the 8 years that the previous one did.
