I hung this hammock in my room and LOVE it. Bright, somewhat hideous colors only give the hammock character and make it more awesome. Super comfy, the fabric isn't coarse but is strong. Hammock big enough for 2 but the perfect size for 1. However, it doesn't come with the pillow as pictured. Still worth every cent.

I'm in Mosul, Iraq and I decided that I needed a way to relax in this hectic paradise we call a warzone. So I purchased this lovely Aruba Hybrid Hammock,Single, Vanilla Yellow. So, the hammock gets here and I set it up in between the cement walls with some parachute chord. The beautiful Iraqi sun baked my flesh to a healthy crimson hue. The hammock held up wonderfully against, rain, sandstorms, boiling heat and incoming mortars like a champ. Not even the wailing alarms of incoming fire can tear me away from my beautiful, cotton/polyester blend Aruba Hybrid Hammock. I am feeling more relaxed than ever, and I owe it all to my perfectly crafted Aruba Hybrid hammock!

i discovered there are different sizes of hammocks. i have a large stand and this is a tiny hammock.
the colors were pretty. the material was fine. felt like cotton, but it was a mix.
the wooden stretcher was left unstained and unprotected so i imagine it would get a little rough with time.
the stitching was unacceptable. looked like the sewing machine malfunctioned, but the factory worker (hopefully, an adult), just kept on sewing. the seams were jagged and ugly. i think mine was a fluke since no one else has complained about this issue.
i returned mine for a larger hammock in a different brand.

This hammock can't even fit a large child! Let alone a small adult! The picture is misleading. The color and style are as depicted in the image, but in reality the hammock wouldn't reach beyond the model's knees. (Unless she is a pygmy.)

I've never seen such a ridiculously small hammock. I laughed in disbelief when I unfolded it from the box!

Update: Byer's has great customer service! I sent them an email to point out the size problem. Next day, they called me back to apologize and to send me a larger hammock (Mauritius), which is excellent! Apparently, Byer of Maine has little control over how amazon advertises and displays products, which is the cause of the confusion.

This is the second purchase I have made of this hammock. Earlier in the summer, I purchased the blue to hang outside, and now I bought the yellow which compliments my newly recovered patio furniture. It is comfortable and looks great.

This hammock is definitely cotton, and unlike nylon, which disappears when touched with a lit cigar, this hammock has held up well. The fabric is breathable for all but the hottest days and is best left in the shade if you want it to last more than one season. The spreader bars are stout and work well, the finer weaves of Central America are more comfortable to lay on, but this style is good also. You will find it more stable than the latter for 'newbies' to hammock life. It will require some thought about hanging it and getting the appropriate ropes and hardware if what is provided turns out not to be adequate. This is a single size unit and weight recommendations are to be 'heeded'. Also, if you are the 6'6" or above range I would find a little longer unit. Not recommended for older folks(70-80) and children with sharp instruments. Everyone else should love it. My wife says the colors are great, but I would think that is a subjective consideration.

The Aruba Hybrid Hammock arrived exactly as expected. This hammock is well-constructed out of a soft material that is very comfortable to relax on for hours on end. It is currently hanging on the balcony of my apartment building and has so far survived the past month in mild weather. When a storm or hurricane is forecast to come through we will take it down as a precaution but I am sure that it would be able to brave the elements if left exposed. The only part that may see damage are the two wooden bars, as they are raw and do not have a finish to protect them from water damage.

My only woe is that it takes a moment to find that 'sweet spot' in the center of the hammock to swing evenly balanced; something about how it is woven with the fabric leaves the edges loose, though this does offer a variety of positions to experiment with, e.g. you can stretch out fully by lying diagonally across it without falling off.

Also, the hammock is quite strong; while it says it is a single, two of us around 160lb each have shared it at once with no problems.

This is the best purchase I made all summer; reasonably priced for a great product.

Piece of ***

It's very comfortable, but a couple of weeks of use started to wear down the ropes, until one of them suddenly snapped!

Comfortable like cotton, exactly as the ad portrays it, and looks fabulous in my yard. The product is sturdy and a colorful edition to my yard. I hung it from 2 palm trees and my guests came from Pennsylvania and fell asleep in it. I would buy another for back up or I may have 2, excellent deal for the money. (I have had the pure cotton ones before and they do not hold up in this Florida heat and humidity, they rot fast.)So if you want a great deal for the money, THIS IS IT!!! Have a nice nap and enjoy the tropical breezes in this!!

My husband wanted a hammock to use on our screened in porch and chose this. The fabric is great, and the colors are wonderful and bright. The only thing missing is the pillow which wasn't available. He loves it and uses it quite often. He also likes the fact that it is easy to put up and take down as needed and doesn't take up space like the ones attached to a frame. It is definitely a "keeping hubby happy" purchase that worked!
