Amazing, May 9, 2006
Ill make this short....
there is crushing guitars and pounding drums, but it has an icy feel to it, theres only a few bands that give me that cold feeling like im out in the snow somewhere which is Wintersun, and Norther both bands are amazing too..... but these guys arnt comparable to them...
theres screaming, which is black metal screams so dont think new children of bodom or anything... more along the lines of old inflames....
the guitars arnt exactly "lets solo every 30 secs" but the rythms are very solid and complex at times which makes it a great head banging tune
drums are great, and bass there both insync and make sence throughout the songs
and for the singing voice its very soothing, the guys a good screamer but even better singer....
PICK THIS UP!.... along with
KEEP OF KALESSIN! <-reminds me of these guys but that cd is better if not the same as this cd

Pretty rockin!, June 26, 2011
This review is from: Hydra (Jewl) (Audio CD)
I'm not gonna lie normally I'm into the deeply rooted Swedish death metal like scar symmetry or even sybreed of Switzerland, but these guys pull it off well. I'm very happy with the cd. my only issue is I can't find them Anywhere. I was actually surprised to see it here.

Quite simply, the best of melodic death metal., March 6, 2011
Let's be honest, here. Satariel isn't exactly a band on the forefront of popular culture, the death metal scene, or really anyone's radar other than their established fans. And you know what? That's a shame. I stumbled upon this band quite accidentally through Pandora Internet Radio, which is probably the best thing the internet has ever done for me. Satariel is a band that defines what melodic death metal should be, especially with Hydra.
Hydra is a record that I can listen to seventeen times (to arbitrarily pick a number out of nowhere) and never get bored with. It's a record to listen to on those days when you're driving with the windows down and the music loud. It's a record for those days when all you want to do is sit inside and do nothing. There's never a bad time for the best music, and this IS the best music. Hydra is a record I am constantly rediscovering with each new listen.
Ah, but I digress. Hydra is a defining record in melodic death metal. The instrumentation blends together beautifully (not a word you expected to hear, I'm sure), the vocals are clean just as often as not, and there is a power in the music. I want to define more specifically what I'm talking about, but I just can't. There is something ethereal in this record that makes it unlike anything else I've ever heard in my life.
At the start of this, I said Satariel was a band on the forefront of absolutely nothing. I realize that, for you to be reading this review, you probably already know about Satariel and their unique sound, and this review is probably just repeating things you already know. If that's the case, I probably don't need to convince you to buy this record, but just in case, I'll add a little quip here anyway. Buy this record! Buy it now! Then, once you get it, go rave to your friends about the awesome new record that you just got and let them listen to it. Spread the word about Satariel because, honestly, word of mouth is all these guys have.
