And unlike most other filters, the LifePack's water is enhanced with electrolytes. That's because the filter uses a sports drink syrup during the filtering process to keep people refreshed. The LifePack is easy to use: simply put dirty water into the red port and a single sports syrup charge into the green port. Be aware that the filter is priced cheaper because the manufacturers expiration date is November 2010. Bought in June 2010 for approx $20 and have until November 2010 to use. I will use this close to expiration date filter for testing purposes and if it passes I will plan on purchasing more filters (approx. $35) with an extended expiration date from a different vendor. Low rating due to the expiration date not being disclosed by vendor. Item was timely delivered by vendor. Filter itself appears to be constructed well.

I haven't tried this yet but I was impressed with the construction of the bag.It is very sturdy and would hold up well under extreme conditions.The only draw back is you end up with a flavored sports drink rather than pure water.
