5.0 out of 5 stars Where have you been my whole life??? This reel rocks!
The inventors of this hose reel did a fantastic job. The set-up on this tool was quick and very easy-didn't take me more than 15 minutes to set it up and get it running. I connected two lengths of 100-ft hose, for a total of 200 feet, and it didn't have any problem accommodating the length. The directions "recommend" that the hose be fully extended in a straight path...

The inventors of this hose reel did a fantastic job. The set-up on this tool was quick and very easy-didn't take me more than 15 minutes to set it up and get it running. I connected two lengths of 100-ft hose, for a total of 200 feet, and it didn't have any problem accommodating the length. The directions "recommend" that the hose be fully extended in a straight path prior to engaging the motor to wind it all in. However, I wanted to see what this gadget was made of-so I left my hose in its usual condition: a jumbled mess!
When I lifted the lever to engage the mechanism, I couldn't believe how powerful this water-powered motor was. It reeled in 200 feet of hose in no time flat-I was so amazed I was utterly speechless. A mechanism moves from left-to-right and back to evenly distribute the hose on the reel, so the next time you need to use the hose its very easy to pull the hose off the reel.

I've been telling everyone I know about this product, because it is rare these days for someone to actually invent a better mouse-trap...but these folks at Hydro Industries have done just that. Bravo. If you are looking for a great gift for Dad...you've found one. P.S. This is the first product review I've contributed ... just felt compelled to recognize a truly innovative product. I've owned about 10 different hose reels in my life--all of them virtually worthless. This one actually does the work for you--and a bargain for the price. Thank you.

I received this item last week and hooked it up the same day. The installation instructions are very clear. It took about 10 minutes from start to finish. I hooked up a new water hose that is 125 feet long. I was amazed at how smooth and quick the hose reel wound it up. I wish I had thought of this idea. My three year old grandson was here and he too was amazed. He had me pulling out the hose and rewinding it many times that evening. A great product. We have a very large deck and I am going to purchase the smaller one for rewinding the hose my wife uses to water her hanging baskets of flowers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great product!!, June 17, 2003

I bought this because my Wife didn't have the strength to wind up the hose with our old reel. It works even better than I thought it would. I unpacked it, hooked up the hoses turned on the water and it pulled 200 ft of hose, full of water, up our inclined yard in less than 2 minutes. I did find out I had to FIRMLY attach the reel to the ground. The hardware they send works O.K. but I bought a 24 by 24 patio block and attached the unit with some bolts. I think we will be buying another one for the other side of the house shortly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, August 4, 2003

Easy set-up and works very well. Mfg and I now recommend not using rubber hose. It does work with rubber hose but much better with thinner vinyl hose. I had diffuculty attaching the supplied drain hose ( too narrow to fit) but was able to attach a regular piece of 5/8 to their drain fitting. My unit is installed on a cement patio so the drain water hose was made long enough to reach the grass area. I had originally thought the rewinding pump is using the water in the hose. It is using a fresh water supply from your faucet, so expect quite a bit of water to be coming out of the drain hose. While in rewinding mode, I use this "drain" water to clean the patio area or water the surrounding long. If installed near a garden the drain water is obviously put to better use. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars worked even on well water, June 21, 2004
This review is from: Hydro Industries 200A 200' AutoRewind Hose Reel (Lawn & Patio)
We have a well, vs being on city water like most people. We've had problems in the past with items that relied on water pressure (ex - timer for watering the lawn). Decided to try this a try, because I HATE rewinding hoses and they always end up as a mess on the reel.
For those of you that have our same problem, you'll be relieved to know it does indeed work! Because of the lower water pressure it does rewind a bit slower than other reviewer mention, but to me it is still worth it. 200 ft of neatly rewound hose, without wearing out my arm!

Although this is the product I originally wanted, I made the mistake of settling for a competitor's electric-powered version when they didn't have this one at the local home improvement superstore. What a piece of junk *that* turned out to be; very poorly manufactured, and there is simply no possible way it could have worked correctly. Despite the admonitions all over the box that said "DO NOT RETURN TO STORE" (of course not - they don't want to have to deal with a bunch of defective merchandise), I did just that, came home and found this one at Amazon for virtually the same price. It arrived today, and after taking about 30 minutes to install, I tested it and can say the same thing as the other reviewers: This thing works like a dream, and certainly puts the other one to shame. It effortlessly reeled in 100 feet of high-quality 5/8" heavy vinyl hose. My only complaint is that mine appeared to have a light coating of a motor-oil-like substance on one side (perhaps lubrication from the internal mechanisms), but it cleaned off quickly with a popular citrus-based gunk remover. Otherwise, it worked the first time, and I am very happy and impressed with the product.

I bought the smaller version a couple of years ago. Initially, all seemed well but one thing I did notice is that the pressure at the hose nozzle is reduced. Quite a bit really. So if you are used to blasting dirt from your vehicle, this won't happen once hooked to this rewinder. It does rewind and quite neatly, but there is a good deal of water used to accomplish this feat. Then, as time wore on, it began to leak. If you just leave the machine on the patio, hooked to your outside spigot, eventually, you will see wet spots on the concrete. As for being able to fix these leaks, forget it. So I'm going to sell mine and be the wiser for it. I don't mind rewinding by hand especially if the hose will be distributed evenly on the spool with some of the newer hose reels. Did like the fact that the hose was out of sight.

This review is from: Hydro Industries 200A 200' AutoRewind Hose Reel (Lawn & Patio)
Used for one month in fall of 2003.
Drained all water out for storage.
Spring of 2004 when I hooked it up, water came from inside the reel.
Something is broken and I cannot find a parts amnual to get a replacement.
It appears as though a cap or plug came out and now the thing is worthless.
I did not get a return phone call from the 866-493-7638 number and when I called back the mailbox was full.
Help! Help! Help! or I'll telll everybody I can it's a piece of junk.

Thanks, Ron Hansen; 815-937-1475 or 815-351-1334; ronemar@peoplepc.com
